Status of the IRS Backlog
|
According to a report issued by the Treasury Inspector General on September 2, 2021 – the IRS had a backlog of nearly 8 million paper business tax returns in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic (as of December 2020). That’s a 3,230% increase relative to the same time frame in 2019. The report found that the backlog, along with correspondence and other types of tax-related business needed to be addressed and processed. To learn more, we invite you to read our blog.

Effective October 1, the tax rate for the Meals and Rooms (Rentals) Tax decreased from 9% to 8.5%
