Delegations

Regional District of Nanaimo

  • Jamai Schile, Senior Planner for the Regional District of Nanaimo, appeared before Council to provide an update on the Regional Growth Strategy review and bylaw amendment referral process. View in Video.


Qualicum Beach Skatepark

  • Linsday Reed, Josh Reed, and Gauri Chopra appeared before Council to discuss the existing skatepark, potential re-development, and collaboration with the community. Council directed staff to invite the delegation to present at an upcoming Committee of the Whole meeting to discuss their vision for the skatepark in depth with Council and the community. Qualicum Beach Multi-Use Cinema Society

  • Jan Taggart appeared before Council to present the findings from the Society’s feasibility study. The Society requested that Council include the development of a multi-use cinema in their Strategic Plan for 2023. View in Video.

Correspondence

School District No. 69

  • A letter of congratulations will be sent to Chair Eve Flynn for their recent re-election as Trustee and appointment as Chair to the School District 69 Board. View in Video.


Communities in Bloom – Year of the Garden 2022

  • A letter of gratitude will be sent to Marlys Diamond for her service as the Town’s coordinator for the 2022 Communities in Bloom and ‘Year of the Garden’ initiative. View in Video.

Staff Reports

Regional District of Nanaimo Fire Service Agreement

  • Council authorized the Town to enter into an agreement with the Regional District of Nanaimo to provide fire protection services to properties within the Regional District, and that the agreement be applied retroactively to January 1, 2022. View in Video.


Zoning Amendment and Development Permit: 365 First Avenue West

  • A public hearing will be held on January 18, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Qualicum Beach Town Hall, 660 Primrose Street, regarding the development proposal for 365 First Avenue West. View in Video.


Agricultural Land Reserve Exclusion Application: 230/250/270 Rupert Road East

  • A public hearing will be held on January 18, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Qualicum Beach Town Hall, 660 Primrose Street, regarding the application to exclude the subject property from the Agricultural Land Reserve. View in Video.
