News from Mrs. Mares
We are just over halfway through the first trimester with Parent-Teacher Conferences on the horizon. If you haven’t already signed up for conferences, here is the information on how to do so. As a reminder the conferences on Tuesday, October 26th will be in person and the conferences on Thursday, October 28th will be virtual. We hope this helps each family find a valuable way to connect with your child’s classroom teacher(s).

The midpoint of the trimester also marks grade checks for the middle schoolers. These will be completed by the end of the day on Friday. A letter with more information and the student’s current grades will be sent home with identified students. Students were made aware of this upcoming process on October 6th. Per the NDDP Family Handbook under Academic Integrity:

Middle School Grade Check(s)
  • The principal will check grades at the midpoint of the trimester for all middle school students.
  • If a student falls below a 2.0 GPA or has a failing grade at the time of grade inspection, the student will remain after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-3:30 pm. Students will be with the teacher that teaches the class(es) they are failing in. The student will remain in that class until his/her grades are at the minimum acceptable level.
  • Grade rechecks will be completed for these students at two-week increments.
  • The purpose of grade inspections is to make the student accountable for his/her academic progress. At the same time, it allows parents and teachers to provide academic support for the student. Failure to achieve minimum grade standards is an academic, not behavioral matter.
  • Extra-curricular Eligibility may be impacted. Please see that section of the handbook for more details.

October 2021 Our Lady of Good Help feast
Living the Liturgical Year as a Family

October is dedicated to the Most Holy Rosary, due to the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. October is also the month when the Virgin Mary appeared to a Belgian immigrant, Adele Brise, in 1859. This took place on the grounds of Champion, WI., when the town was known as Robinsonville. Not too far from our beloved NDDP.

On August 15, 2016, The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops declared Champion a National Shrine, by formal decree, distinguishing ‘The National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help’ as the first and only Catholic Shrine in America with a Church-approved Marian Apparition Site. Our Lady of Good Help’s feast day is celebrated on October 9th.
