(Read The Story chapter 18 or Daniel Chapter 6)

“Shut Your Mouth”

It was a total set-up. The leaders of Daniel's day were jealous of his successes so they hatched a sinister plan. Their scheme? To make Darius the only one that could be praised for an entire month knowing full well, that Daniel would only worship The Lord. Darius agreed to issue an ordinance presented to him by the evil leaders that unless people would pray to Darius they had to keep their mouths shut, or risk being thrown into the lion’s den.

Even though Daniel knew the decree, he refused to worship anyone other than The Lord. So Daniel just kept on doing what he always did- He got down on his knees three times a day, prayed, and gave thanks to his God.

Daniel was not swayed by the trickery or derailed from the freight train called envy, even though it meant the pit with the carnivores. Daniel prayed, and for that, he was tossed into the pit, with lions. But Daniel’s mouth would not be shut, however, the mouths of the lions were. You know the rest of the story . . . the lions’ jaws were closed by God's mighty angel who turned ferocious man-eating lions into closed-mouth furry felines and Daniel was saved. Darius was thrilled and at the command of Darius, the brown-nosing perpetrators became breakfast for the hungry beasts. Darius issued a new decree…

Then King Darius wrote to all the nations and peoples of every language in all the earth:

“May you prosper greatly! “I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. “For he is the living God and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, and his dominion will never end. He rescues and saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.” - Daniel 6:25-27

Join us Sunday as we jump into the pit with Daniel and the furnace with his friends in chapter 18 of The Story where we see the Lord do some serious saving. Sunday, we will praise our Risen Lord Jesus who saved us too. I can’t wait!

PRAYER:

Thank you, heavenly Father, for giving us your dear Son who saves us. Help us to trust You when we are wronged, and continue to pray when others tell us to stop. Lord, give us strength to proclaim your victory over death and praise your name forever and ever.

AMEN

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

It's time to study Precept again with Jackie!

I would like to invite you to the fall study of the book of Hebrews Precept Upon Precept. The book of Hebrews compares Jesus to historical people and events from the Old Testament. Through these comparisons, we see His superiority. He is greater than the angels, the Torah, Moses, the promised land, earthly priests, sacrifices, and the old covenant. It also shows that because of Jesus' superiority, we, in Christ, are able to persevere in our faith.

Co-ed classes will be on Tuesday evenings or Women's classes will be Wednesday evenings via Zoom @ 7 pm. For more details or if you would like to join a class and purchase the workbooks, please contact Jackie at 970-401-3810.
