2022/2023 PTAE SIG Webinars

Over the last two years, the PTAE SIG webinar series provided an opportunity for PTA educators across the country to share their knowledge and expertise during a time when connection was more important than ever. We want to make sure to continue to share with each other to continue to strengthen the PTA education community and the future PTAs we teach. Presenting at a PTAE SIG Webinar is a great way to present in a safe, non-intimidating form and can be an excellent stepping stone along a journey towards a submission or presentation at larger conferences.

The webinar committee is now seeking submissions for the 2022-2023 academic year. Presentations should cover topics applicable to PTA Education but can have an education or clinical focus. All presentations should be able to be presented in one hour in a Zoom format.

If you are interested in submitting a proposal to present at the webinar series, please complete the presentation proposal form found here. More information and all submission requirements are included on the proposal form. Once you have submitted your proposal, the committee will review your submission and contact you for follow-up.

Proposal submission deadline to be considered to present Jan, Feb, March, Apr or May: September 1, 2022

We look forward to your submission and seeing you online!
Any questions regarding the webinar series can be sent to: ptaesigwebinar@aptaeducation.org

Clinical Education - Boots on the Ground: Creating a Successful Clinical Education Program in the Trenches

Thursday, October 27, 2022 8:00 am - 12:00 pm CDT

The purpose of this course is to use evidence to promote excellence in physical therapy clinical education through Site Clinical Coordinator of Education (SCCE) and Clinical Instructor (CI) collective collaboration in real-time on their own plans and documents for improving their programs. Participants will bring their laptops and existing documents and work in small groups on refining or creating templates to be used in their program. The day will be organized into four small presentations on evidence in clinical education with breakout time to work on the participant’s own site-specific documents with their small group. Short debriefing sessions as a large group will be interspersed for further collaboration. We anticipate that participants can return to their clinic with new or refined tools in hand, a new network of colleagues to use as references, and feel that their program has a forward direction.

Training in grantsmanship for rehabilitation research (TIGRR)
Registration Now Open

Workshop Dates: January 9-13, 2023
Accepting applicants this Summer
This upcoming intensive grant-writing workshop (TIGRR) builds upon the successful model used by the Enhancing Rehabilitation Research in the South (ERRIS) workshops that resulted in many junior investigators receiving NIH and other NIH level research funding. The centerpiece of the TIGRR Workshop is the one-on-one mentorship that maximizes the chance of success.

This 4-day workshop provides the expertise and support to be successful at the national level in obtaining research grant support. The target audience for this workshop includes junior and mid-level faculty in all rehabilitation research disciplines, many of whom are on the cusp of success in NIH-funded or similar research but could benefit from expert mentorship in grant development, including choosing best funding source and type of grant from that source. Post-doctoral fellows who are transitioning to a faculty position and mid-level faculty making a change in research focus are also encouraged to apply.
