FSPA celebrates 146 years of perpetual adoration

On Aug. 1, the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, with affiliates and partners in mission, gathered in Mary of the Angels Chapel at St. Rose Convent in La Crosse, Wisconsin, to celebrate 146 years of perpetual adoration. In turn, 12 women, including Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Grace Ann Schiffer (pictured above), rang the bell to usher in the 147th year of our sacred tradition of prayer. Visit fspa.org to read the story, watch the ceremony, see more pictures and submit a prayer request.

A new era for FSPA-founded health care

In 1983, with just $10,000, the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration founded St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Earlier this month, Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Marlene Weisenbeck blessed a brand new Mayo Clinic Health Care hospital there, and new doors to innovation and compassion were opened. 'Time for another Sister Thea Bowman moment'

"But it is now 2024, and I believe it is time for another Sister Thea Bowman moment to remind the bishops of what we have to offer," declared Father Patrick Winbush during the celebration of Mass at the National Black Sisters' Conference, held jointly with other organizations, in Louisville, Kentucky, in July.
