Below are some project updates and things you can expect over the next few weeks. Catch our team at the Buda Wiener Dog Races and get ready for construction to begin soon at Green Meadows Park.

Green Meadows Park Pavilion

Talley Loop & Middle Creek Drive

Geotechnical work for both projects are currently underway. The geotechnical consultant is working on completing soil and groundwater sampling.

Piezometers were installed along Middle Creek Drive on April 28 to monitor water levels. Piezometers are subsurface water level monitoring equipment. This equipment is small and will not be visible. As always, be mindful and careful of crews on the streets.

Community Meetings & Events

Thank you for coming out to celebrate Buda's Birthday with us! We were happy to share more information about the upcoming projects with you.

It was great to meet members of the Stoneridge HOA last month. Our Program Manager, Kenny Crawford, gave a short presentation to discuss the future improvements at Stoneridge and Green Meadows Park.

If you missed us at Buda's Birthday or the HOA meeting, catch us at the 26th annual Weiner Dog Races on April 29 at Buda Amphitheater and City Park. We'll be there from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday! Come learn more and chat with us about current projects!

• Council Meeting: Tues., May 2 (Presentation) - Council will receive an update from Program Manager, Kenny Crawford that includes Construction Manager at Risk Delivery Method, a preview of the financial dashboard, and upcoming outreach and public engagement efforts.
• Council Meeting: Tues., May 16 (Workshop): Ten Eyck Landscape Architects will present on the schematic design for Garison Park.

The next BBOC meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. BBOC meetings are open to the public and we encourage you to join us to learn more about the 2021 Buda Bonds.

Capital Improvement Project Updates

Bella Vita Sidewalk & Bridge

• Goal: Construction of sidewalk, bridge structure, and pedestrian crossing to provide safe pedestrian access between Bella Vita neighborhood and downtown Buda.
• Current Status: Sidewalk and pedestrian bridge are currently under construction, with an estimated completion Fall 2023.

Cabela's Connector Sidewalk

• Goal: Complete the 6' sidewalk along the southside of Cabela's Drive from the Silverado Crossing Apartments to Crestview RV.
• Current Status: The City is identifying the scope and selecting design professionals.

East Main Street Expansion

• Goal: Improve mobility and safety on Main Street between I-35 and Firecracker Drive.
• Current Status: City is negotiating professional services agreement for design of the project.

Old San Antonio Sidewalk

• Goal: Sidewalk connections along the northside of Old San Antonio Street within the Cabela's Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) from Cabela's Drive to the Walmart Drive.
• Current Status: The City is identifying the scope and selecting design professionals.

Robert S. Lights Rehabilitation

• Goal: Provide pedestrian connectivity to downtown Buda from the Meadows at Buda, subdivision and the Robert S. Light corridor.
• Current Status: On March 28, Hays county Commissioners awarded the construction contract to Hunter Industries, Ltd., not to exceed $1,140,202.65.

City Project Updates

Participate in the Virtual Open house for the Buda Transit Development Plan through Monday, May 1. The Virtual Open House is meant to share more information and collect input from the community on the Buda Transit Development Plan (TDP). This is an opportunity to learn more about the importance of public transit, goals for this process, initial feedback from the community, and next steps!
