Cristiana Chamorro (2018) has worked tirelessly to advance free and fair elections in her home country of Nicaragua. Last month, Chamorro’s campaign hit a major roadblock when she was arrested in an apparent attempt to halt her candidacy in the upcoming presidential election. Harvard ALI's Social Impact Review released its newest Social Impact Series—The First 100 Days of the Biden-Harris Administrationthat includes six new articles and interviews. Harvard ALI Fellows sit down with former administration officials, a congressional delegate, a Harvard professor, and leaders in law and industry to discuss how the administration has performed and what is in store as it continues to tackle a myriad of challenges.

Julie Allen (2020) says transgender youth are becoming pawns in the nation’s culture wars. In an article for WBUR, Ms. Allen explains how trans sports bans are a solution in search of a problem.

Andrew Zelermyer (2020) shares the importance of activism in the LGBTQ movement in an article for WBUR. Mr. Zelermyer discusses his experience with the ACT UP activists, and his efforts to carry their message forward. 

Haifa Al Kaylani (2017) served as a judge for the DigitalAg4Her Hackathon. In partnership with the World bank, the event aimed to support innovative women led-initiatives to enhance women’s productivity in the agri-food sector in Lebanon.

Steve Leveen (2015) is championing the cause of language education. In his podcast, America the Bilingual, he shares his experience from a Spanish class he took during his ALI Fellowship year that inspired his work today.

ALI Faculty Executive Committee Member Howard Koh (SPH/HKS) says local health agencies played a vital role in protecting the public against COVID19. Featured in Yahoo News, Dr. Koh stresses the need for increased resources for the often underfunded and understaffed boards of health to ensure they're ready for the next pandemic.

ALI Founding Chair & Director Rosabeth Moss Kanter (HBS) says says companies that do not give workers a central role in their environmental, social and governance (ESG) work are making a mistake. In an article for the Wall Street Journal, she discusses how companies can improve their ESG performance while also retaining and attracting talent.
