Youth Spotlight & Difference Maker
Youth Spotlight: Liam Liesegang |
Liam Liesegang is an 8th grader who’s been calling Eagle Valley home for just about a year now. His journey here wasn’t without its challenges, but it’s clear that the move has opened up a world of new experiences, friendships, and opportunities to grow.
This year, Liam is moving schools to Ignite Learning Academy, where he’s part of an advanced virtual program. Through this, Liam has found a unique space to excel. Without the distractions of a traditional classroom, he’s able to focus on his passions—like baking in the cooking club

Starting in September, we are offering a parent and caregiver skills program called Guiding Good Choices! In five weekly sessions, parents and caregivers learn specific actions that promote healthy development and reduce risky behavior in the teen years. Home practice and weekly family meetings build family connections and help families apply skills in real life. Guiding Good Choices emphasizes strong family bonds as the key that motivates preteens to follow family guidelines and stay on a course toward better health and educational outcomes as teenagers.

Parenting Tip of the Month
Building a strong bond with your child sets them up for a fulfilling life. Securely attached children thrive in various areas, showing higher self-esteem, independence, academic success, and better relationships. Dr. John Gottman's research highlights the importance of emotional intelligence in every aspect of life.
So, how do you cultivate this bond and teach emotional intelligence? It's about being consistently available and responsive to your child, even in small moments. Dr. Gottman calls it "small things often." Genuine connections aren't built on grand gestures but on consistent acts of care and presence, showing your child they can rely on you. Entonces, ¿cómo se cultiva este vínculo y se enseña inteligencia emocional? Se trata de estar constantemente disponible y receptivo a su hijo, incluso en los momentos pequeños.
