Call for Board Members and Nominations

We have openings on our Board of Directors! If you are interesting in serving on our Board or assisting one of our Directors, or if you know someone who would make a great member of our board, please reach out to us at madisonlpgaamateurs@gmail.com.

We also have volunteer opportunities if you are looking to get involved but don't want to commit to being on our Board.

Rule of the Month

Rule 17.1d: Relief from a Red Penalty Area

We heard a lot of different, interesting ways to take relief when your ball goes in a red (lateral) penalty area, but if you are playing by the official rules of golf, you only have 3 options, which are pictured below. For a full explanation of this rule, as well as other types of penalty areas, go to the USGA website!

Join us to celebrate the 2024 Golf Season! Register here! We have 3 great options for you to participate:

Play in the Fun Scramble division if you want to golf in a more relaxed environment/don't have a USGA handicap. Members and non-members are welcome to participate in the scramble! Invite a non-member to join you to learn more about our organization while having fun on the course! Scramble teams will be 2 or 4 players, depending on the number or registrants. An award will be presented to the top team!

Play in the Chapter Championship Stroke Play* division if you want to compete as an individual and have a USGA handicap. Players will compete in net and gross individual stroke play. Flights will be determined after registration closes. An overall net and gross champion will be crowned! An optional skins game will also be available.

Join us for Dinner only* if you want to come socialize and celebrate after golf but are not able to golf that day. Dinner will be served approximately 4.5 hours after golf starts. Awards for the chapter championship, scramble, eraser tournament, and Murphy Desmond Cup will be presented.

Price increases September 1, so register now!!!

*Players who are participating in the Eraser Tournament will be automatically registered for the Chapter Championship. Please register for the dinner only option.

Sarah DeKraay qualified as second alternate for the USGA Women's Mid-Amateur Finals by shooting a 75 at the Wisconsin qualifier at Nagawaukee Memorial Golf Course on August 1.

Sarah also qualified to the finals of the USGA Senior Women's Amateur to be held in Seattle, WA in September. Sarah qualified with an 80 at McHenry Country Club (IL) on August 12. Great job, Sarah!

Several chapter members competed in the WSGA Patti Pelischek Solheim Cup on August 11. Congratulations to Lisa Herfel/Rebecca Swartz for winning low net in Championship flight, Peg Carlson/Carla Draper for winning low gross in A flight, and Wendy Proctor/Ros Gusinow for winning low gross in C flight.

The chapter was also well represented at the WSGA Women's Stableford event on August 21 at Washington County Golf Club. Susan Crowson broke 80 for the first time and won low gross in 3rd flight. Congrats, Susan!
