Cascade Canyon Firewise (CCFW) encourages everyone in Cascade Canyon to practice an evacuation soon. This could be a bad year for wildfires because of the recent storms. Lack of preparation can cause panic which can cause accidents, injuries, or worse. The more we plan and practice evacuating, the fewer panics, problems, and regrets we will have.
Although CCFW has scheduled a community evacuation practice for Saturday morning, May 20, you can practice evacuating at any time. We will send out a series of emails with suggestions, recommendations, checklists, and websites with further info and resources between now and then. Our focus will be on what each household needs to do before you drive away from home.
The time between now and the mock evacuation will have three phases:
1. Thinking, planning, and preparing - now and ongoing.
2. Red Flag Day actions - when the signs go up.
3. Evacuation Order actions - as fast as you can get out.
Watch for the next emails which will address each phase, share the info and decisions with everyone in your household, and start prep work now.
If you have tenants, make sure they are on our mailing list. If you are a tenant, make sure the owner is on the list. If all adults in your household get our newsletter, it is more likely that one of you will see it in the flood of spam and appeals in your inbox.
