BRANDON JONNA BECK, NOVICE
THE NEW BENEDICTINE COMMUNITY OF THE HOLY TRINITY
We desire that this Rule be read often in the community, so that none of the [siblings] may excuse [themself] on the ground of ignorance. (Chapter 66)
New Year - Beginning Again
At the end of Chapter 66, Benedict encourages us to read the Rule often.
Tradition became, and holds, that a daily reading of a part of the Rule until the whole Rule has been read allows for the Rule to be read three times a year.
Paired with the reading of an experienced, monastic commentary, daily reading of the Rule is intended to guide and form disciples, seekers, and newcomers in the ways of the community.
January 1, 2022.
Welcome to the beginning, again, friends - a new opportunity to listen with the ear of our heart; to learn humility; to be obedient; to be stable; and to convert our hearts, minds and bodies - all in service of Love of God, neighbor and self.
Amen.
