Glencoe Community Garden is a community-wide service project for community members of all ages and abilities. It is a sustainable, organic-practicing, food-producing mini-farm and garden that serves local food kitchens, pantries and other charitable organizations.
Each season, approximately 3,000 pounds of fresh food is harvested and donated to local service organizations that share the dream of food security for all and the mindfulness for our environment. Visit gjhp.org/gcg for details and email michelle@gjhp.org with questions!

GJHP is also seeking students to work at our table at The Grand! Three shifts are available: 10am-12pm, 12pm-2pm, or 2pm-4pm. Sign Up!

HILDA’S PLACE SHELTER

Help prepare bagged lunches for Hilda’s Place, a transitional shelter for those without available permanent housing. The shelter is part of Connections for the Homeless, the leading agency in the Northern suburbs delivering essential services to people facing homelessness & housing insecurity.

Join us for a Spooky Halloween themed evening of FOOD & FUN at our next SNAP (Special Needs Adults Program) DINNER, October 19. From 3:30pm to 5:30pm we will be preparing dinner in the Oasis. Then from 6pm to 8:30pm join us for an evening of spooky themed food & games.

Carve pumpkins for our friends at Over the Rainbow, an organization that provides housing for adults with disabilities so they can lead independent lives. This event is FREE! Pumpkins & carving tools provided by GJHP.

HALLOWEEN SCAVENGER HUNT

Open to ALL Glencoe 5th-8th Graders

Join in the GJHP Contactless Halloween Scavenger Hunt, October 25-28 throughout Glencoe. Participation is FREE and open to all Glencoe 5th-8th Graders.
Participants will receive a list of clues on October 25 at 3:30 pm. Hunt items will be located throughout the Village of Glencoe. When you find a clue, simply take a photo and upload it to your clue card or write in what/where you found it.
Return your card to michelle@gjhp.org once completed. All clue cards must be received by Oct 28 at 5pm. GREAT PRIZES for students who find the most clues first!

This production of Into the Woods Jr. is exclusively for 8th graders so they can be heavily involved in all aspects of producing a 60-minute musical with Director Samara Harand. Registration very limited! Only a few spots are open!

GJHP is looking for dedicated, enthusiastic students to serve as advisory board members. Help determine what organizations we partner with, design engaging outreach activities, and run super cool events for Glencoe middle school students! There is no campaigning, just step up for a chance to lead and make a difference in our community.
The Student Advisory Board will meet in The Oasis on the first Friday of each month before school.

THE GREAT MUD RUN 2021
Saturday, October 2 at 9:00 AM
Participation Fee: $40-$55 (based on reg date)
Ready to get muddy?! The Mud Run is back!
The Great Mud Run is a 1.25 mile race through Watts Park, with 10-12 natural and man-made obstacles throughout the course, challenging your drive and physical stamina. Participants receive a finisher medal and bragging rights.
This local favorite is presented by the Glencoe Park District and is open to ages 7-14.

GJHP MISSION STATEMENT
The Glencoe Junior High Project (GJHP) is a parent-led, non-profit organization that has sought to engage Glencoe middle school students into the community since 1973. In order to carry out our mission of fostering socially aware, civic-minded and community-oriented individuals, we offer Glencoe 5th-8th grade students opportunities to volunteer in their community, attend social activities and events, perform on stage, as well as access to a youth drop-in center in Glencoe's Central School.
