Meet Our Team
Daniel Valentine,
Professional Development Program Manager

Daniel Valentine is a native Detroiter and proud alum of Central State University in Ohio. While in college, he discovered his passion for college access and volunteered with various groups to support student success. After earning his Bachelors of Arts degree in Communications- Broadcast Media, he was recruited by his alma mater, to head the Marauder Jumpstart Program. As the Program Coordinator he developed and managed the leadership training curriculum for incoming freshmen. 

Upon returning to Detroit, Daniel began working directly with Detroit’s youth in various ways. Daniel currently serves as the Program Director for the Detroit Youth Choir and most recently worked as an Admission Counselor for Grand Canyon University. Daniel’s passion is to impact the next generation, and is excited to begin his new position as Professional Development Program Manager for DCAN.
Kelli White, DCAN Intern

Hello, I’m Kelli White and I’m from Detroit, Michigan. I’m a senior at Central Michigan University. I'm majoring in Interior Design with a minor in Family Studies. I graduated high school as Valedictorian from Jalen Rose Leadership Academy. She will be supporting student facing resource and development sharing at DCAN.

Multiple Dates: CDL Training Cohort 12
Become a regional driver, local delivery, over-the-road driver, landscape and construction equipment operator, bus driver or CDL instructor. Dates include:

  • September 27th - CDL A Cohort 13 - 2021
  • October 18th - CDL A Cohort 13 - 2021
  • November 8th - CDL A Cohort 15 - 2021

Multiple Dates: Heavy Equipment Operator Training Program
This hands-on segment gives students the opportunity to drive and operate a variety of equipment including forklift/hi-lo's, skid steers, backhoes, front end loaders, excavators, and lifts. Date's include:

  • November 1st - HEO Cohort 15 - 2021

Nov. 1st - Dec. 23rd: Welding Cohort
MIG Welding Production Worker Training Program: 180-hour training program to prepare students with the skills necessary to be eligible to use welding equipment in industries. Students will have both lectured-styled teachings coupled with hands-on training.

You will need to re-subscribe to the new sign-up form or you will no longer receive communication from DCAN. You can add yourself to all the newsletter lists or just pick one that works for you. The new format will go into effect on October 1st. It should only take 30 seconds to fill out the form!
