Informational Postcards for Drought Resources Coming Soon
The City of Cleburne will be sending informational postcards to all properties, residential and non-residential, to provide resources regarding the Drought Contingency Plan. Watch for a postcard and stay informed by visiting our website at www.cleburne.net, calling Public Works at 817-556-8869, or visiting City Hall at 10 N. Robinson St. Cleburne, TX 76031.

At the July 26, 2022, City Council meeting Public Works Director Jeremy Hutt provided a presentation addressing the city's water utility and the current drought conditions. The presentation may be seen here

The Public Works Department also maintains the Drought Information Center that serves as a hub for up-to-date information regarding the current drought and the city's Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan.
Booker T. Washington Community & Recreation Center Upgrades
The Booker T. Washington Community & Recreation Center will receive a number of interior upgrades in August. All of the facility's interior walls will be painted to offer the facility a new fresh look. The gymnasium and banquet hall will receive new flooring. The new gymnasium flooring will provide a better playing surface for athletic programs. The banquet hall flooring will provide a more durable surface that will allow for additional programs and uses.

Staff anticipates the renovations beginning the week of August 15. During the renovations, various areas of the facility will be inaccessible. We will post a schedule of the temporary closures at a future date. For more information, call 817-556-8858.

Keep Pets Safe in the Heat

As we enter August and temperatures remain unrelenting, pet owners should pay special attention to ensure we take care of our furry friends (and those feathered, scaled, and shelled friends).

Never leave your pet in a car.

Give your pet extra water.

Protect your pet’s paws from hot surfaces.

Don’t overdo outdoor exercise.

The Portal to Texas History has digitized issues of Cleburne newspapers from 1918 to 1955.

The Cleburne Public Library received $50,000 from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and the Institute of Museum and Library Services to begin the digitization project. Working in conjunction with the UNT Texas Digital Newspaper Project (TDNP) and the Portal to Texas History these newspapers will be digitally preserved and accessible.

Pet of the Week
Unfortunately, the Cleburne Animal Shelter is temporarily closed due to current Covid exposures. So, please come by PetSense and visit this kindle of cuties.

You can meet Edwin. He’s the one with the sad eyes. Or, maybe connect with Ester. She’s an odd one. At times pensive, yet at other times quixotic. She’ll keep you on your toes. Regardless, these adorable, orange kittens are a domestic shorthair mix. And, these wise beyond their years kittens are approximately 4 months old. Perfect age for their fur-ever home.
