Congregational Meeting - Sept 4
Please join us for a Congregational Meeting immediately following worship this Sunday for the purpose of electing an Elder Nominating Committee as well as two new elders to fulfill the terms of Carl McDonald and Lynn Daniel, who moved away.

Taizé Prayer Service - Sept 6 @7 PM
A Taizé service involves sung and chanted prayers, meditation, a period of silence, liturgical readings, and icons. There is no preaching. It is a time of communal prayer, song, and meditative silence. If you've never been to an Avondale service - come! Find out why these have been going on for decades at Avondale!

Avondale Adventures - coming soon!
The next Adventure begins Wed, Oct 5 ! Details and registration are coming soon. This Adventure runs through Dec 7 and the children's Christmas performance will be Sun, Dec 11.
Volunteers are especially needed to help with the food, dinner and children at 5 PM.

Roof Above Lunches - next Sept 9
Join us the first Wednesday of the month at 9:30 AM. We pack 75 lunches (that's 150 sandwiches!) in about 45 minutes with the help of 10 people.
This is a great opportunity for small hands too! Families/groups can serve together!

PWA Bible Study - Sept 13
Save the date to join other women at Avondale for a time of study and fellowship. The next Bible study topic will be selected when the group resumes meeting on Tuesday, September 13 at 1 PM in the Fellowship Hall. Gatherings following this will be on the 1st Tuesday at 1 PM.

Avondale Youth Group
Youth Group had a great kick-off on Sunday. We are grateful to the youth and leaders for sharing summer experiences with us is worship.
Youth Group reports that we "had a lot of new faces and can already tell we are off to a great year!" The Sunday night meetings begin on Sept 11. It's not too late to join!

ASAP Meetings- last and next
WOW, ASAP MEMBERS! Our August mission to collect school supplies for Sedgefield MS was a HUGE success. The students and teachers of Sedgefield are so appreciative. Many, many thanks to all of you for bringing some bookbags along with the paper, pencils, markers, colored pencils, Kleenex and post-it-notes. Many thanks to Olivia Magee, Page Woods and Nell McRae for all the help they gave to get the supplies ready for the pick-up. We are so happy to participate in helping the teachers and students of Sedgefield Middle.
Our next meeting will be Sept 22 at noon in the Fellowship Hall. We will have a VERY special program. The StarClaire 5 (Mahlon, Dennis, and Jackie) will share their beautiful music with us. We are so excited!!!

Church Triumphant - Finison
David Finison, father of Emily Zuyus and a former member here, joined the Church Triumphant August 13, 2022. A memorial service was held on August 20 in Sunset Beach. More details, see the obituary.
Please keep Emily, Joe and all her family in your prayers as they begin the grief journey.

Mary Reed, daughter of Caroline Reed and aunt of Zoe Reed, joined the Church Triumphant August 5, 2022. A memorial service was held earlier this month. More details, see the obituary.
