BCBS will reach out to you if there are changes that require your attention.
If you have any questions, call the number on your ID card.

BCBS will transfer your prescriptions
BCBS will transfer your current mail-order prescriptions (if eligible for refills) to a new mail-service pharmacy.

You can check for coverage changes

New member ID card for 2023
You should have received your new card by now. If not, BCBS will mail you a new card in the coming months. Bring this card to the pharmacy the first time you fill a prescription in 2023, so they can update your information.

You'll have access to over 65,000 retail pharmacies
Confirm that your preferred pharmacy will be in our network or find a new pharmacy using our Pharmacy Locator.

Prescription Tier Changes

BCBS updated their formulary (list of covered medications) for medical plans with pharmacy benefits, as well as Medex® plans with a three-tier pharmacy benefit. As part of this update, certain medications may:
  • No longer be covered (exceptions may be granted)
  • Be excluded from coverage (exceptions won’t be granted)
  • Switch tiers
  • Require prior authorization and/or step therapy

Retirement System Members

Do you know that you can create an account and access your retirement information online? Online access allows you to review your retirement account balances, contact information, and beneficiary. You can also run pension estimates using various dates and ages. This is a great tool to start planning for your future. As you review your estimates, keep in mind that if you retire from the Town, federal tax and any Town insurance will be withheld from your monthly payment. Your pension is not subject to Medicare tax, pension withholdings, or if you remain in Massachusetts, state tax withholdings. If you move out of state, you will have to check that state’s law on pension payments to determine state tax liability.

2022 W-2s were distributed on January 12, 2023. If you haven’t received yours, please check with your department head.

If you contribute to Barnstable County or Massachusetts Teacher’s Retirement, please be sure to compare your 2022 deductions from your pay stub or W-2 to the contributions shown on the Annual Statement that you will receive within the next few months from the retirement system.
