CA FAIR Plan Investigatory Hearing

Do You Have Expereince with the California FAIR Plan?

If so, we need your help!!!

The Fair Plan was established to provide basic fire insurance to Californians with high-risk properties, that have been unable to obtain coverage through traditional carriers. Unfortunately, since the plans conception the needs and conditions Californians are facing have greatly changed, and the policy is in dire need of an update. The Insurance Commissioner’s office is conducting an investigatory hearing during which they will hear from California consumers, organizations, businesses, and brokers and agents, regarding additional changes needed to the FAIR Plan to further evolve and meet consumers’ and businesses’ needs during these changing times.

CampCalNOW President & CEO Dyana Kelley has been asked to speak at the upcoming hearing on July 13th as to how the FAIR plan has affected our industry. We are putting together a subcommittee and we need our members who have obtained or been denied coverage through the CA FAIR Plan to share their experiences!

We are looking for members who are willing to join Dyana at the hearing and share their stories to help create much needed change. Members who are unable to appear in person are encouraged to submit a statement or even have the option of joining the hearing via Zoom. If you have experiences good or bad, please take this chance to speak up and improve the future of California’s Insurance Coverage!

Please reach out to our office to join our subcommittee!

Written Statements can be submitted via email to:

Abigail.Meraz@insurance.ca.gov

Motion Picture Licensing

Show movies in your park, without risk of

copyright infringement

During last Tuesdays ‘Coffee & Connections’ we got the opportunity to hear from Brian Novy, a representative of the Motion Picture Licensing Corporation to learn about licensing content and ask him our questions concerning copyright compliance to find out what our members need to know. In case you missed it, let us fill you in on the details.

As our world evolves and technologies advance, visual media consumption has quickly gone from waiting for your show to come on one a few select channels or hunting down VHS tapes to countless streaming services with unlimited readily available content.

With so much content out there, coming from so many different sources it can be difficult to keep track and make sure that everything you are putting out for public consumption gets properly credited back to its rightful owners.

The bottom line is this: If you are displaying visual media (movies, tv, news stations, etc.) outside of your private residence, you need to purchase a copyright license to protect yourself and the rightful owner of said content. Even the news? That’s right! News stations often use stock footage such as Getty images in their news segments, subjecting them to copywrite law.

How do you ensure that your park is compliant?
