Humboldt Counties 2022 Housing Market Starts Off With a Bang!
Last week we saw an insane amount of new listings hit the market! There were roughly 2.5x as many listings within the last week, as there were the previous four weeks combined. The icing on the proverbial new listing cake, is that a lot of these listings were very high quality, and were spread evenly across multiple price ranges. In years past, we wouldn't see an influx of this magnitude until mid February or March. I know there could be a litany of different reasons for why this surge happened so early this year, but on the whole, I think that buyers and sellers are just ready to get back on the horse. The strength of the market leading into the holidays does lend some belief to the theory that the normal winter malaise that typically plagues us, might have been largely avoided this winter. The rising interest rates have definitely incentivized some buyers to pull the trigger quicker than later, and a lot of local sellers are taking advantage of those low rates by selling their current home in order to upgrade to something bigger and better.
