A Message From Our Visiting Minister

In every generation, human beings seek courage, meaning, and wholeness for their lives. To the early church the gospel came as a life-transforming message. Through it they found greater courage and meaning and wholeness. Behind all of what we read in Acts of the Apostles are the stories of human beings whose lives were changed. So it was that the early church felt compelled to go out in glad proclamation. Therefore, we now see Philip, having experienced the reality of God’s transforming work in Jesus Christ, going forth addressing himself to other persons in need.

About Rev. Al Walker

Rev. Alfred M. Walker serves as Community Regional Minister for Reconciliation and Anti-Racism, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Southwest. This office is localized and provides core regional services to South Central Texas and the Lower Rio Grande Valley. Most recently, he served as Senior Pastor of the Bonnie View Christian Church and Staff Chaplain II with Baylor Scott & White Health at the Baylor University Medical Center, both in Dallas.

Reverend Walker is a native of Augusta, Georgia. He is a graduate of Morehouse College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion. He also earned the Master of Divinity Degree, with a concentration in Psychology of Religion and Pastoral Care, from Morehouse School of Religion. Prior to his ministry in Texas Rev. Walker served churches in Georgia. Reverend Walker has a genuine love for people, pastoring, and preaching.

He is married to Angela Bedford Walker, and they are the proud parents of Azaria Ruth, Alfred Mark Walker, II, and Aisha Renae’, her husband Tre, and their daughter Aria.

Scripture Reading

Acts 8:4-13 (New Revised Standard Version)

4 Now those who were scattered went from place to place, proclaiming the word. 5 Philip went down to the city of Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah to them. 6 The crowds with one accord listened eagerly to what was said by Philip, hearing and seeing the signs that he did, 7 for unclean spirits, crying with loud shrieks, came out of many who were possessed; and many others who were paralysed or lame were cured. 8 So there was great joy in that city.

9 Now a certain man named Simon had previously practiced magic in the city and amazed the people of Samaria, saying that he was someone great. 10 All of them, from the least to the greatest, listened to him eagerly, saying, ‘This man is the power of God that is called Great.’ 11 And they listened eagerly to him because for a long time he had amazed them with his magic. 12 But when they believed Philip, who was proclaiming the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13 Even Simon himself believed. After being baptized, he stayed constantly with Philip and was amazed when he saw the signs and great miracles that took place.

Sunday Worship Masking Recommended

Round Rock Christian Church Congregation,

The Guiding Board is watching the Covid levels in our community and as of this time we are at the level Medium or Yellow. We are strongly recommending that everyone who can please wear a mask during our gathering and worship time. Hopefully the levels will decrease soon, and we can get back to our new normal, but in the meantime stay safe – protect yourself and others – and stay healthy.

If you are at high risk for severe illness, talk to your healthcare provider about whether you need to wear a mask and take other precautions

• Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines

• Get tested if you have symptoms

People may choose to mask at any time. People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask.

If you are immunocompromised, learn more about how to protect yourself.

Find out more about the COVID-19 situation in Williamson County, Texas with COVID-19 Data Tracker.

Thank You,
