Quilling Craft

This Sunday at 3 pm the Craft at the Museum is quilling. We will be making a greeting card using an early technique of rolling strips of paper.

On Saturday, October 8, 2022 the Haddam Historical Society will host “Fresh Faces, Old Places: The Next Generation of Historic House Owners” from 10 am to 4 pm.

Visit and tour six architecturally distinct properties in Haddam and Higganum which are loved and respected by their owners, who range from young families to tech-savvy entrepreneurs.  All six homes offer a fascinating look at how this next generation of old house champions has found beauty and tranquility in our town’s important historic structures, while balancing careful restoration and/or preservation of historic elements with modern needs and lifestyles. Join us for a look at seamlessly blending the old with the new, to learn more about the history connecting back to some of our earliest Haddam families, and to see how old houses can be a wonderful place to call home.

TICKETS ON SALE NOW

Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 day of the tour and will be on sale at the end of the summer through the Haddam Historical Society. There is a boxed lunch available for $15. Information and tickets at https://Freshfaceshousetour.eventbrite.com

Middlesex County

Temporary Home

The Historical Society received a very exciting donation, the Middlesex County Temporary Home 1883-1955 by Cheryl and Christopher Klemmer. The couple has been extensively researching Connecticut’s County Homes and have published works on Windham, Tolland, Hartford, Litchfield and New London. The Middlesex book not only includes a comprehensive history but also lists residents of the home and has a great resource list. This is a very important addition to our collections and library. THANK YOU CHERYL & CHRISTOPHER.
