It’s been a long 16 months, but Ireland finally reopened to international travel on July 19th. Which is good news, not only for those in the hospitality industry who have been hit by some of the most stringent restrictions in Europe, but also for those who have missed the scenery, buzz, and the charm of Ireland.
On the first day of reopening Dublin Airport seen over 22,500 passengers pass though the airport and are pleased to confirm numbers are increasing daily. If you’re fully vaccinated and arriving from the U.S., the U.K., or the EU, arrival into Ireland is fairly simple. You won’t need to take a PCR test or isolate on arrival. You will need to provide proof of your vaccination with a CDC vaccination card or EU digital health certificate. If you aren’t fully vaccinated, you can still technically visit Ireland, although you will need to present a predeparture PCR test (taken within 72 hours prior to arrival) before self-quarantining for 14 days.
Whatever your vaccination status, every single visitor needs to fill out a Passenger Locator Form and present it upon arrival. This form must be filled out prior to travel, and it’s only available online.
Ireland's vaccination program is going from strength to strength with 5,871,111 doses administered, over 73% of the adult population fully vaccinated and over 87% have one dose.
Hotels, pubs and restaurants are now all open. Indoor dining in pubs and restaurants require proof of full vaccination or recovered from Covid documentation for entry. Sporting events, concerts and larger events are resuming with 40,000 spectators in attendance and musical festivals such as Electric Picnic will go head in September as planned with 70,000 in attendance. We are making progress every day.
You can contact Elina@wtg.ie with any queries on the reopening as we look forward to welcoming you back to Ireland.
