Sounds of Summer!
The Promenade, Jazz on the Plazz, Music in the Park
Do you remember those Sounds of Summer that still can make your heart skip a beat? Up and down the streets, all summer long, there were certain sounds reminding us that it really was summer and there was reason to smile. From splashing, to crickets and fireworks; from bike bells and sizzling grills to baseball games and finally to live music we look forward to this beautiful noise. Perhaps this year we are looking forward to these sounds more than ever before and Los Gatos is ready for us.

The Promenades, every Thursday evening, 5- 9 p.m. beginning June 16th through August 4th, North Santa Cruz Ave will be closed to thru traffic allowing for everyone to promenade, enjoy live music, food and fun in Downtown Los Gatos. Bring the whole family. Kids’ activities will happen between 5- 8 p.m. Music begins on the North Stage at 5:30 p.m. Grab a bite to eat from one of our great restaurants and step into a few of the downtown shops that will stay open late.

Two weeks later, on Wednesday, June 29th, Jazz on the Plazz will make its grand entrance back into town and into our hearts. How we have missed you! This year Jazz on the Plazz will be dedicated to the great American composer, bandleader, songwriter and lifelong humanitarian - Dave Brubeck. Brubeck was a local, born in Concord, California in 1920. Brubeck became a professional musician and a social activist using his music to advocate against racism and prejudice his entire life. Music will play from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Town Plaza. Bring a picnic dinner and join in the community fun. Concerts will happen every Wednesday evening through August 17th.

On Sunday, July 17th – August 21, we welcome back one of our favorite sounds – Music in the Park. This Concert series will consist of five live performances happening on the Civic Center Lawn from 5-7 p.m. Each one will start at 5 p.m.  We encourage you to bring a picnic dinner, enjoy the warm summer sunshine and dance the early evening away.

Senior Survey Results
The Town recently completed the Community Assessment Survey for Older Adults (CASOA)TM, which provides a statistically valid survey of the strengths and needs of older adults as reported by older adults themselves.

This report is intended to enable the Town, community-based organizations, the private sector and other community members to understand more thoroughly and predict more accurately the services and resources required to serve an aging population. With this data, stakeholders can shape public policy, educate the public and assist communities and organizations in their efforts to sustain a high quality of life for older adults.
