*The Alaska COVID-19 data is derived from the Alaska Coronavirus Response Hub developed by the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services. Alaska resident cases are reported by place of resident, and includes Alaskan residents diagnosed and isolated out-of-state. Non-resident cases are reported by place of diagnosis. Communities with fewer than 1,000 residents are combined at the borough/census area level to protect patient privacy. Counts by residency status and place are subject to change as additional information is collected during case investigations. Source: Alaska Department of Health and Social Services

SAFETY TIP
Updated Guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

With the B.1.617.2 Delta variant rapidly spreading, it’s important to get vaccinated and stay informed on the latest updates from the CDC. Remember, choosing to get vaccinated is the single most important action you can take to protect yourself and your community and to help us all get back to normal.

On July 27, 2021, the CDC released updated guidelines and recommendations regarding vaccinations and new evidence on the Delta variant. Updates for fully vaccinated people (in non-healthcare settings) include:

  • Wear a mask in public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high transmission.
  • Wear a mask regardless of the level of transmission, particularly if they are immunocompromised or at increased risk for severe disease from COVID-19, or if they have someone in their household who is immunocompromised, at increased risk of severe disease or not fully vaccinated.
  • If you have a known exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 to be tested 3-5 days after exposure, and to wear a mask in public indoor settings for 14 days or until they receive a negative test result.

CDC also recommends universal indoor masking for all teachers, staff, students, and visitors to schools, regardless of vaccination status.
