Checking Eligibility for DCS CHP Members

Mercy Care would like to remind providers that all members of the child welfare system are enrolled with Mercy Care. The member may not appear eligible utilizing AHCCCS Online while their enrollment is in process, an AHCCCS ID is not yet assigned, or because AHCCCS has not updated the health plan to reflect DCS CHP.
All DCS CHP members are assigned a CMDP ID, also referred to as a P ID. This ID cannot be used to validate eligibility through AHCCCS Online; however, providers can use the ID to validate eligibility on the Mercy Care Portal. It is recommended providers utilize all sources available when validating a member's coverage.
For Mercy Care billing purposes, the member's AHCCCS ID is the preferred ID for claim submissions. Mercy Care will accept the CMDP ID if an AHCCCS ID is not assigned. Both methods require the correct member Name and Date of Birth.
Service should never be denied or delayed to children in DCS custody.
