As New Haven biotech center Winchester Works nears full occupancy, developer to create smaller spaces
As the Winchester Works life sciences building nears full occupancy, the Westchester County, N.Y. developer making over the former arms factory is building three smaller laboratory and office spaces on speculation.

Jake Pine, senior director with LMXD, said the three 5,000-square-foot spaces that will be built over the remainder of this year are targeting early stage biotech companies. The three spaces, which are located on the building’s second floor, are expected to be move-in ready either late this year or during the first quarter of 2023, Pine said. Read More

Two years after the COVID-19 virus cratered tourism nationally, Connecticut is attempting to lure a new type of visitor — workers with the leeway and financial means to work remotely for extended stretches, who might consider a long-term rental in a Connecticut town within reach of activities appealing to families.

The CEO of the state’s lead marketing agency mentioned the initiative Tuesday among several new forays by the state to elevate its visibility to vacationers, while speaking Tuesday afternoon to members of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council. Connecticut Minimum Wage Increases July 1
Connecticut’s hourly minimum wage increases to $14 on July 1, 2022.

The $1 increase over the current $13 is the fourth stage in a series of five planned increases Gov. Ned Lamont signed into law in 2019.

The legislation increased the hourly wage by $1 every 11 months.

Eventually, the state’s minimum wage will increase to $15 per hour, a near 50% increase in four years.

Employers are legally obligated to pay employees the updated wage on and after July 1, which falls on a Friday.

This means employers can choose to pay employees $13 for every hour leading up to July 1, but must adjust the payroll for Friday of that week. Read More
