MSDE Announces Second Round of Child Care Stabilization Grant Applications - Additional $125 Million in Funding Provided by American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act of 2021 for Eligible Child Care Programs


BALTIMORE, MD (December 28, 2021) – The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) announced today that it will open the application window for the second and final round of Child Care Stabilization Grants on January 3, 2022. MSDE will distribute more than $125 million in funding, made available through the American Rescue Plan (ARP), to child care programs in Maryland. Along with a simplified application, MSDE is providing a new system of supports during the month of January to assist providers with the application process. Free Workshops for Caregivers and Educators


Arts for Learning Maryland, formerly Young Audiences of Maryland, will host a series of SIX FREE VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS for educators and caregivers.


These 90-minute workshops will take place on Zoom and support early childhood educators in discovering new arts strategies that support the development of our youngest learners in the classroom.

Special Class for Martin Luther King Day

We are showcasing our Building a Community of Families class. This class is designed to assist teachers and assistants to become more aware of the diversity within their classes.


Date and Time: Monday, January 17 - 6:30 pm to 8:30pm

Cost is $8 (normally $10)


Class Description: In this 2 hour training, students will explore the role of the parent and and/or family members in their child’s education. Students will be better able to identify the family’s expectations and compare and contrast them with other families. The students will also strategize ways to include families in the classroom, even when they are not physically present.

Crafts and Puzzles Do Go Together

Enjoy these puzzle activities.: A number of the activities can be adapted for old children. For example have the children design and build the maze, break the class into several groups and let each group design a scavenger hunt and then swap them off between groups.

How to Participate in Our National Puzzle Day Celebration:

  • Winners will be announced on January 29.
  • Have friends and family go to H&H social media sites and "like" your photos. H&H has social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter.
  • The more your pictures are "liked," the better chance your chance of winning
  • The entry with the most "likes" on social media will win a free 2 hour class


How to Enter Your Photos:

  • FYI - Create your own puzzles are most welcome.
  • Take pictures of your group of kids/staff/family working on puzzles.
