Busy Summer for Kids at the Morgan Grove Family Center
It has been an amazing adventure at the Morgan Grove family center this summer. Family Center staff vary the schedule each day to accommodate the children's needs and interests.  Participants come and go for a fun filled day which consists of arts and crafts, sports, games, swimming or just hanging out with friends.  Staff take the kids to play at the complex playground daily and take the kids to the swimming pool twice a week. The WAWM RCS Department supplies a lifeguard during that time to ensure safety at the pool.  As a part of the USDA Summer Food Service Program and in partnership with Sodexo Inc., staff  provide a warm lunch daily in which the kids have enduringly named,  "The Mystery Lunch," and have turned it into a game. If you guess what's for lunch that day, you get to be served first.  The kids favorite activities this summer are jump rope, water balloon games and running through the sprinkler.

When Jayce was asked what he likes about the center he stated,  "I Don't like bugs, but I like playing bug bingo." Leigha happily responded, "I like going to the playground and playing tag with Mr. Alex."  On hot days, Kennedy reported that  " Miss Kathy shrunk the popsicles."  As inquisitive four year olds often do, asked center director, Kathy Kline, "Miss Kathy, do you live here?"  It is easy to see why she would ask as the center is located in a 2 bedroom apartment complete with a living room space, kitchen and two bathrooms.
According to Kathy, The Morgan Grove Family Center is all about ensuring the kids are having fun, making friends, and creating positive memories.

The Morgan Grove Family Center is located within the Morgan Grove Apartment Complex located at 3459 S. 110th St.  Given the physical proximity of where the complex is located, there are no safe walking routes for children to access recreational activities.  The WAWM RCS Department in partnership with Metropolitan Associates, operates the family center year round serving children ages 4 to 12 that live within the complex.

Young at Heart

WAWM Young at Heart 55+ Programs still has space available for the last trip of the Summer.  We will be heading to Devil's Lake State Park on August 24th!  On this trip you will have the opportunity to hike, swim, kayak and more!  BBQ lunch will be provided!
