Before You Arrive to Campus

We are happy to have you live on campus this year! HRL staff are here to support you. If you have questions about the move in process, please visit our website.

FALL MOVE IN

Below is information about important policies, services and resources that Housing residents need to know.

Animal Policy and Pets

Students are not allowed to have pets in campus housing. Only small fish are allowed in both the residence halls and apartments. Aquariums must be 20 gallons or less.

Service animals and emotional support animals are permitted in campus housing. Students seeking either a service animal or emotional support animal to live in their assigned campus housing space must begin the process with Disability Resources.

Students cannot bring an animal with them on move in day unless they have been approved by Disability Resources, met with Housing and signed the Service and Emotional Support Animal Guidelines and Agreement.

EMAIL HOUSING WITH QUESTIONS

Cleaning

Yes, you have to clean your own room.

Residents must provide their own cleaning supplies and are responsible for cleaning their own space as well as common areas in suites and apartments. Residents are encouraged to develop a cleaning schedule with their roommate/suitemates they can utilize throughout the academic year. Not cleaning regularly can lead to pest control and air quality issues.

Internet

USI provides wireless and wired internet access in housing. Residents should bring their own ethernet cord.

Students are welcome to use their preferred streaming services and devices to watch favorite shows, movies, etc.

HOW TO CONNECT YOUR DEVICE

Laundry

Laundry in the residence halls, O'Daniel South and the Community Center use both Eagle Access cards and coins. Laundry in McDonald East is coin operated only. Costs are $1.50 to wash and $1.25 to dry.

What to Pack and

NOT to Pack

Remember most residents are sharing approximately 700 square feet with three other students. Consider the room size and that space is limited. We encourage students to pack lightly and purchase additional items after you move in. Walmart and grocery stores are conveniently located near campus.
