Carrying past pain can hinder our present and future joy. This week in our summer series, we will focus on the healing power of God's love and grace and we will discuss the importance of forgiveness and letting go, and how God's promises can restore our brokenness. By confronting and releasing our past hurts, we can experience God's healing and move forward with a renewed spirit.

Jeff Kersey, Senior Pastor, will be preaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services; Trevor Miller, Family Pastor, will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services. We will have an extended time of prayer for those who wish to come forward and be prayed for at stations in each of the services. We believe in the power of prayer and look forward to what God will do through these services.

For those worshiping remotely, you're invited to watch our services online, on Facebook and YouTube.

School Supply Drive

Our annual School Supply Drive ends this Sunday, July 28! Each year, we team up

with our local missions partners to provide kids all over our community with the tools

they need to succeed for the upcoming school year. You can find the list of items we

need and all the collection details here.

We ask that all items are new and unopened and that you pray over the children who will receive the supplies you bring in! You can bring your items to the Missions Center on your way into church this Sunday, July 28 Our goal is to provide for 300-350 kids and we thank you for your generosity to this ministry year after year.

Care Support Groups

We have some wonderful congregational care ministries here at our church that help provide support through various stages of life. Two of our support groups that start back up in a few weeks are GriefShare and DivorceCare.

GriefShare

GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. Mt. Horeb will begin this 13-week support group program on Tuesday, August 13. It will run from 6:30-8:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall. For more information, contact Lynn Ullman at 803-271-3904.

DivorceCare

Whether newly separated or divorced for years, DivorceCare is a safe place where caring people come alongside you as you find healing from the pain of this difficult life experience. Mt. Horeb will begin this 13-week support group program on Wednesday, August 21. It will run from 6:00-8:00 PM in room 547. For more information, contact Doreen Michaels at gmadory@yahoo.com.

Online Communion

Our next date for Holy Communion is August 4. If you are unable to be present physically but want to participate, we will mail the elements to you for this date. To register for this, click here.

Mt. Horeb Golf Tournament

Come tee it up at Golden Hills Golf Club on Monday, August 19, 2024. All proceeds will go straight to the Backpack Ministry which helps feed the under resourced children of Lexington School District 1. This will be a four-person, Captain’s choice format. Registration will open at 8:00 AM. Play will begin with a 9:00 AM shotgun start. Registration fees include: green fee, cart fee, lunch, tournament celebration and chances to win great prizes! Behold Conference

Gather with us for a special conference full of Biblical teaching, passionate worship, and encouragement from other believers across the state. From the main sessions to the breakouts, this is a time to grow in your own faith while gaining wisdom from others serving in ministry. BEHOLD Conference has been designed for church members, volunteers, leaders, and all interested in growing in their love for God and others. We are honored to host this great event here at Mt. Horeb Church for the Global Methodist Church in our state, and we invite you to attend August 8-9. Visit mthorebchurch.org/events for more details and to register.

Staff Announcement

Mt. Horeb family, it is with great sadness that I announce my official notice of resignation from my position as Congregational Care Pastor. As you know, Truman and I welcomed our sweet Quinn into the world in January and have quickly realized that having a little one changes everything. While I absolutely love my role here at Mt. Horeb, I’ve been sensing from the Lord that it is time to begin a new adventure that would allow me to have more time and flexibility with Quinn. I have accepted a position as a hospice chaplain serving those that are in their last days on earth and coming alongside families that are grieving—a passion of mine that has truly grown from my role in congregational care ministry! While I am excited about this new season, I am very sad to say goodbye to our amazing congregation and staff. Truman and I can never thank you enough for the love and support you have shown our family over the last five years—from newlyweds to having our first baby! We love our Mt. Horeb family and will miss you more than you know!

Emma Murphy

Thank you Emma for providing comfort and care over the past 5 years to our congregation and staff. We will miss you!
