City Launches Beautify MoVal,
a New Community Participation Program
The City of Moreno Valley has launched a new community participation program called Beautify MoVal that allows residents to take responsibility for keeping a City park, trail or road clean, either by volunteering or by sponsoring a clean-up.

Beautify MoVal also features three citywide Community Days of Service scheduled for 2021, in which residents will join City-employee volunteers for a targeted three-hour clean-up event. And residents can learn more and adopt a park, or a segment of a trail or road all with just a few clicks at the special new section of the City's website.

The Community Days of Service for 2021 are set for the following Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon: May 8; Aug. 14; and Nov. 13. Participants do not have to register ahead of time, but only need to sign in on arrival at City Hall beginning at 8 a.m.
Sprouts Farmers Market Coming to MoVal
The City of Moreno Valley welcomes the decision of Sprouts Farmers Market to open its first MoVal store. Sprouts features fresh, healthy foods at farmers-market prices.

"We're very pleased that Sprouts has chosen to locate in our community," said Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley. "Our residents will appreciate having yet another excellent choice when it comes to grocery shopping, specifically in terms of healthy foods."

The new store will be located at The District commercial development (Heacock Ave. at State Route 60) with construction starting in summer 2021 and plans to open in 2022.

"The residents of my district are eager for new grocery options," said Mayor Pro Tem Victoria Baca, who represents City Council District 1. "Sprouts will be a welcome addition to District 1 and to our City."

Landscape Improvements Include
Turf Replacement
As part of the effort to improve roadway median appearance and use less water, the City has completed landscaping renovations on two medians, on Lasselle St. between Gentian Ave. and Kentucky Derby Dr. (pictured), and on Iris Ave. between Kitching St. and Nason St.

The project included replacing the existing water-intensive turf with drought-tolerant plants, and installing water-efficient drip irrigation and an on-site water retention system. The project is funded through the Turf Replacement Rebate Program sponsored by the Eastern Municipal Water District and the Metropolitan Water District, and through the City's Landscape Maintenance District.
