- ADDAMS FAMILY UPDATES -
Tech Time!
The Addams Family is already looking great, and we only just started tech! This is going to be a really fun, dynamic, and entertaining show. Two more nights of tech this week, then set build this weekend and a well-deserved break on MONDAY. Yay! We have two late practices on the 18th and 19th, then two shorter practices until 6:30 pm next Thursday and Friday — a rest-up weekend before SERIOUS TECH begins.

The week before the show will be intense! Students should get a jump-start on projects, test studying, etc., because that last week in February will be very, very busy. Please note this tech schedule change: Ms. Barraza and Mr. Sakow have requested that the kids be at pit at 3:45 pm (instead of 4:15) so they are ready to start by 4 pm.

Parent Volunteers to Serve Meals
The kids have been enjoying the much-needed dinner break, and we have been enjoying serving them and watching them hang out with their theater friends.

Theatre Pit Orchestra is in charge of serving just two meals this year. Our dates are next Wednesday, February 19, and Wednesday, February 26, from 5:50 until about 7:45 pm.

We have a preliminary list of volunteers, but please email Dr. Rita Kachru at drkachru@gmail.com to confirm your slots!

We will pick up the food and meet the volunteers at 5:50 pm in front of Barnum Hall to start set up, and we will serve at 6:15. You should be done by 7:45.

Tickets
Remember to purchase your tickets to come watch your kids play!

If your child needs to change his/her date, they have been informed that they need to find someone to switch with them on their own and then inform the pit managers Lusa Holstrum and Karina Gunn to finalize the request.

The pit kids can come watch the show for free when they are not playing! They will sit together with all the theater/pit orchestra kids; we will be sending out a special code for them to use at the door closer to the performances.

Students and Parents: We Need Help Finishing the Set
This weekend we will be working in Barnum on Saturday from 9:30-5:00, and if needed (hopefully not!), Sunday from 2:00-7:00. Some set pieces are still being built, but mostly we need help with painting and set dressing. Please let Joan know if you are able to attend so we can plan — either text 310-869-6000 or email producer@samohitheatre.org.

Concessions/Snacks/Volunteer Sign-Up
We are getting close, which means it is time for parents to sign up to bring concessions, snacks for our hard working cast and crew, and to volunteer to help on show dates!

Contact Kimberly Jaffe at kimberlyjaffe@yahoo.com if you have any questions.

Special Jobs
One of the cool, cool special effects of this show involves dry ice. We need a parent or parents to help with picking up the dry ice from Smart and Final on Lincoln and bringing it up to Barnum. Please email Joan at producer@samohitheatre.org if you can help with any of the following dates:

  • February 24, 4:00 pm
  • February 25, 4:00 pm
  • February 26, 4:00 pm
  • February 27, 4:00 pm
  • February 28, 5:00 pm
  • February 29, 5:00 pm
  • March 1, 5:00 pm
  • March 6, 5:00 pm
  • March 7, 5:00 pm

You do not have to pay for the dry ice — just pick up and deliver!

Make Up Help Needed
We have a lot of cool makeup for this show! So... calling any parents with makeup experience or artistic talent who want to assist with makeup for the show. We would need you to be available for two rehearsals and the shows. You would be done before each show starts, so you could see any or all of the shows. The schedule for help would be as follows:

  •  February 20, 3:30 pm-6:30 pm
  •  February 24, 3:30 pm-6 pm
  •  February 28, 4:45 pm-7 pm

  •  March 1, 2:45 pm-5 pm
  •  March 6, 4:45 pm-7 pm
  •  March 7, 4:45 pm-7 pm

If you can help, please email our makeup designer Gabrielle Cohen at gabrielle7@mindspring.com — THANK YOU!
