A Message from Pastor Danie
Growing Young, a weekend of spiritual renewal …
We see it happening around us … how the membership of churches shrink. We even notice that the people who join us on Sunday in worship seem to be older than before! It seems to us that young people just don’t seem the same – they seem to disengage from faith communities and at a higher rate.

Is there a way to engage young people in our congregational life? Can we find ways to retain them as they are growing older, and become parents and grandparents?

Seeking to address these questions, we are going to meet as a congregation on the weekend of October 8-10 to discuss strategies that have been found to work in innovative churches to reach the younger generations in ways that breathe life into the whole church.

Many of our friends spent the summer reading the Growing Young book. Our Spiritual Renewal Weekend is not only for those who bought (and read!) the book, but for all the people who have covenanted with Columbia Presbyterian in ministry. Yes, that means everyone who found a spiritual home here at CPC.

Professor Steve Argue, a member of the Youth Institute at Fuller Seminary, will lead our discussions that will go beyond the book.

There is still an opportunity to sign up for the weekend. Register Here and join us for a weekend of new insights!

Livestream Update

We have encountered some technical issues with our recently introduced livestream. Please be aware that we are working to resolve these issues.

We are recording a local copy of the livestream which will be available on our website following the live services. These recordings will not have the intermittent dropouts that sometimes are experienced with the live broadcast.

We welcome feedback regarding our livestream services. Let us know if you’re enjoying the opportunity to join our worship when you’re not able to be here in person. Send comments or suggestions to [email protected].
Virtual Choir Anthem - The Image of God

Everyone is invited to participate in the Virtual Choir! Youth, adults, accomplished singers and those who tend to only sing in the shower or car – let’s glorify God together in song! Click here for Virtual Choir instructions and resources.
Helping Hands

…needs you! One of the ministries of this church has always been helping out those in our congregation who need a little help with projects around the house or yard. We are looking for volunteers who would be willing (on an on-call basis) to help for a couple of hours a couple times a year with household projects.
Do you have skills in plumbing, electrical, or general repair? Maybe you’re just handy fixing things about the home or even willing to perform general labor as needed. If this sounds like something you would be willing to help with please contact either Jerry Brown, [email protected], or Terry Hurley in the church office. Also, if you or someone you know needs some help in this way, please let us know.

Life Together Adult Class
Wednesdays, 6:00PM-7:30PM, Chapel

How can we grow closer to God and become more like Jesus? The Bible indicates that this is always done in a community of disciples. On Wednesday evenings, Pastor Scott will help us explore how we can do “Life Together” in our spiritual disciplines, and how doing them together will help us grow as individuals. This will be a 12-week course on the spiritual disciplines practiced in community. It will also look at some non-traditional disciplines that have been overlooked at times, such as Sabbath keeping and practicing forgiveness, reconciliation and justice.
