Registration in Winter and Summer Term Courses
Course reserves have now been lifted from all winter courses, including Arts and Science Online (ASO) - 700 section classes. When adding winter courses or registering for summer classes, please remember to search undergraduate and undergraduate online to see both catalogues of course offerings. Please also remember to check your timetable in SOLUS if you are adding winter term courses to check for space, prerequisites, and conflicts in your existing timetable. If you have a conflict, see QUartsci.com/registration. The last day to add a course or make changes to your winter term timetable, and to drop a winter term class without financial penalty, is Friday, January 22.
Please note that if you have added a course, you should wait until the next day to access it in onQ as the system updates overnight.

The 6.0 Unit Rule
Have you taken any classes outside of the Faculty of Arts and Science? These are Commerce (COMM), Law (LAW), Biomedical and Molecular Science (BMED), Global and Population Health (GLPH), Nursing (NURS) and Applied Science (APSC) courses.
As an Arts and Science student you are allowed to take classes from a different Faculty to expand your knowledge in different fields. However, only 6.0 units of classes taken outside the Faculty will count toward the 120.0 units you need to graduate. If you have questions about this, call the Faculty Office at 613-533-2470.

Academic Advising
From January 4 to January 22, academic advising will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis by calling 613-533-2470 (M-F, 9:00 am-12 pm and 1-4 pm EST) to accommodate as many students as possible during the add-drop period. Appointments are limited to 10 minutes.
If your issue is more complex and is not urgent, we advise you to call in late January to book an appointment when our regular advising schedule resumes. If you need advising and cannot call during our regular office hours, please email us at [email protected] and we will help you.
We are doing our best to reply to messages as soon as possible, and would ask that you help us by either calling or emailing, but not both.

Exchange Opportunities
Applications for all six Arts and Science exchange programs are due by January 15, 2021 at 4:00pm EST. The International Programs Office encourages students to carefully review application instructions on their website before submitting their application. Don't wait until the last minute! Applications for the Ontario Rhône-Alpes (ORA) Summer Research Program are due by January 22, 2021 at 4:00pm EST. The program is designed for undergraduate and graduate science students interested in conducting research in conjunction with a professor at a partner Rhône-Alpes university in France. Students must be studying science or health science disciplines. The program runs from May-July, with flexibility. Students who will be graduating in advance of the relevant summer term are not eligible to apply. Applications for the Fall 2021 Queen's Semester in Shanghai are due by Monday, January 25, 2021 at noon. This is a tailored study abroad opportunity for Queen's students to learn about the social, political, economic and cultural forces that will shape the world in the 21st century. Queen's students have the freedom to choose from a suite of courses in English, pre-approved for Queen's plans, at Fudan University in Shanghai. Principal's Town Hall - Monday, January 18
Please join Principal Patrick Deane on Monday, January 18 from 4:00 - 5:30 pm EST in a discussion about his recent " Report on the Conversation" which chronicles what he heard from his consultation with the Queen's community about the future of the university. This is your opportunity to hear from Patrick about the direction of Queen's vision and strategy, ask questions or provide your thoughts about some of the findings of the report. This virtual event is open to everyone in the Queen's community. If you wish to provide your feedback in writing, please submit it here. The discussion will be recorded and available afterwards on the Principal's website.

Undergraduate Student Summer Research Program (USSRF)
The Undergraduate Student Summer Research Fellowships (USSRF) Program provides students an experiential learning opportunity to participate in social sciences, humanities and/or creative arts research under the supervision of a Queen's faculty member. The program is intended to provide students with meaningful opportunities to engage in discovery-based learning and to develop research and presentation skills.
The application deadline is 9:00am EST, Monday, March 1, 2021.
