HABITS OF CHARACTER 1.png

Pine Lane Crew,

5th Grade did such an amazing job in our Habit of Character Assembly today!  Their task was to build our understanding of what it means to Persevere at Pine Lane.  They demonstrated perseverance exceptionally as they had to navigate adjustments due to COVID in the number of students in the gym and create non-verbal ways to express enthusiasm and excitement.  5th grade, excellent job! These Habits of Character are what we are striving toward as we seek to empower excellence in character.

At Pine Lane, we define Perseverance this way, “We embrace challenges. We use positive self talk to try and try again. We explore new strategies and seek assistance to find solutions and reach goals.” We encourage you to have conversations with your child throughout the year when inevitable challenges arise on how they can persevere, accepting the challenge and evaluating what they can do to conquer those obstacles.

I’d like to take a moment and make you aware of an opportunity that may be helpful for some of your families.  The Free and Reduced Lunch programs helps ensure that our students are well fed and prepared for learning.  This is a federal program and in order for your family and our school district to receive the full benefit of this program we do need families to apply for this support on a yearly basis.  In addition to free and reduced lunch price, the benefits can also include reduced or waived school fees and financial assistance for field trips or extra curricular offerings.  For more information and how to apply see this link: Free and Reduced Lunch. This is an important step as it brings in millions of dollars to the district to support our students.

We are also quickly approaching the end of the first quarter and fall break.  Please mark your calendar with the following dates:

  • Tomorrow, 9/24 - No School/ Professional Development Day
  • 10/1 - Fall Fundraiser Pick Up at the South Campus
  • 10/6 - SAC/PTO Meeting
  • 10/11-10/14 - Parent/Teacher Conferences
  • 10/15 - NO SCHOOL/ TEACHER Packing Day
  • 10/18-10/22 - Fall Break
  • 10/25 - NO SCHOOL/ TEACHER UnPacking Day.
  • 10/26 - 1st Day of Second Quarter

Thank you all for paying close attention to these updates, especially as we get closer to moving back into the North Building!  Have a great weekend!
