School officials discuss issues with legislators
Topics include funding, accountability, and opportunities for students

Accountability, funding, and meeting the needs of students were the primary topics of discussion when representatives from public school districts in Cass County met Friday morning, March 6, with  four state legislators to discuss issues being considered during the 2020 legislative session. The meeting was hosted by the Raymore-Peculiar School District.
 
Other issues discussed were varied - including career and technical education, tax cuts and abatements, agriculture, and coronavirus.

This is the sixth year for the school districts to join forces under the banner "Cass County Kids First" to develop and endorse a list of legislative priorities.
 
In attendance and answering questions at the March 6 legislative breakfast were: Sen. Ed Emery, R-31; Rep. Jack Bondon, R-56; Rep. Mike Haffner, R-55; and Rep. Donna Pfautsch, R-33.  Unable to attend were: Rep. Joe Runions, D-37, and Rep. Rodger Reedy, R-57.
 
Cass County Kids First includes the 10 public school districts in Cass County.  Their elected Boards of Education serve over 18,000 Cass County students.

Summer School is set for June 1 to June 25
Summer School is scheduled for June 1 to 25. Students register in the grade level they will enter for the 2020-2021 school year.

Elementary schedule
Grades K-5 will attend from 8:30 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
  • Bridle Ridge Elementary (for students in the Bridle Ridge and Peculiar attendance areas)
  • Creekmoor Elementary (for students in the Creekmoor and Timber Creek attendance areas)
  • Eagle Glen Elementary
  • Raymore Elementary (for students in the Raymore and Stonegate attendance areas)
Middle School schedule
Grades 6-8 will attend class from 7:25 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday at Ray-Pec High School.

High School schedule
Grades 9-12 may attend a morning class, an afternoon class, or all day, with the option to earn a maximum of 1.5 credits.

Long Range Facility Planning presentations
Come and hear about the District's long range planning process
This school year, the District is working to update its Long Range Facility Plan. 

You are invited to attend a presentation about the District's long-range facility planning process. Information includes current enrollment numbers, growth estimates, and facility capacities. Learn how the District uses that data to plan for the future. You will have the opportunity to share your input in a survey about planning priorities.
  • Tuesday, March 10 - 6:30 p.m. in the library media center at Raymore-Peculiar High School, 20801 S. School Rd., Peculiar
  • Wednesday, March 11 - 6:30 p.m. in the library media center at Raymore Elementary School, 500 S. Madison St., Raymore

Ray-Pec schools are not in session March 16-20 for Spring Break. Monday, March 23, is the 2nd snow make-up day 2019-2020 Calendar

Pre-Kindergarten registration and enrollment is Wednesday, March 25, at Shull Early Learning Center.   More information

Kindergarten Screening Night - March 31 and April 2
This year, the District has a new format for Kindergarten Screening. You should bring your kindergarten-age child to the event to participate in the screening activities. More information The screening is
Tuesday, March 31 at Bridle Ridge, Creekmoor, Raymore, and Timber Creek, and Thursday, April 2  at Stonegate, Eagle Glen, and Peculiar.

Teacher of the Year/Support Staff Employee of the Year Banquet - April 7
A banquet to honor finalists for Teacher of the Year and Support Staff Employee of the Year is scheduled for April 7 at Ray-Pec High School. The cost is $25.  Order banquet tickets online.   Please RSVP by April 1. More information

Raymore Day at the K - April 17
13th annual Raymore Day at the K on Friday, April 17, to see the Royals host the Baltimore Orioles. The deadline to order tickets is April 8.   Ticket order form
