PresidentPresident's Note
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thank you to all who attended our last Membership Meeting and took the time to offer a few suggestions because they really do matter. They matter because they can help us continue to grow and to better meet your needs. We want to meet your needs because we have a mission. Our MASWA Mission is: "To develop a multidisciplinary community of professionals working in the field of aging who are educated, supported and interconnected so they may improve services and advocate for older adults". Your suggestions enable us to do an even better job accomplishing this mission.

Here is a top 5 summary of your suggestions from our last meeting:
  1. Remain in the same meeting location & post location signs
  2. Continue the Spring and Fall Conferences
  3. Continue networking time to pick each other's brains
  4. Keep CEUs and informative speakers
  5. There were various speaker suggestions - which we will act upon!
We will do our best to continue these items and to implement others. As we seek to advocate for older adults, here are a few ideas that we each can do this month:
  • Introduce a senior to a safe mode of transportation
  • Suggest ways to get involved in the community like volunteering
  • Have a senior tell their story and let them reminisce
  • Help a senior find a good exercise program
  • Help a family struggling with senior living arrangements
  • Give a senior a hug if they'll accept it
  • Promote intergenerational activity
  • Help start a senior "game night" of cards and other games
Remember, we are in this together and watch MASWA in 2020! See you at our next membership meeting, February 27!
