As re-enrollment continues, I am thrilled with the number of families who have jumped on the opportunity for priority re-enrollment already. I guess due to this, Park Maitland is definitely on parents' minds and the Nelson Family happily shared with us why they love Park Maitland! Thank you to Dagny, Blake, and the whole family for sharing!
Have a great weekend and enjoy the day off on Monday in remembrance of Martin Luther King, Jr.
Very Warmly,
Davina Spillmann

What we love about Park Maitland!
It is hard to even begin describing what we love about Park Maitland and I'm sure each of us in the family have differing reasons. This past year, we have been more thankful than ever to have a smaller school system that can quickly and effectively make decisions that will benefit the families, students, and faculty. Having observed what other families with children in the public school system endured during these times seemed very daunting to me. We also love being able to have input and a sense that our input matters.
Now to describe more locally, why Park Maitland? There is nothing more important to us than my kids coming home each day knowing they enjoyed school and were excited to learn. The fact that both of our children cannot wait to tell us what they have been learning about and are excited to return the next day is testament enough. Each of our children have very different learning styles, excel in completely different subjects, and have opposite personalities. At Park Maitland, they are not forced into a box and they are both celebrated and encouraged for their own unique qualities and styles.
Park Maitland is exceptional in creating a learning environment that it is both challenging, yet supportive. First off, I am a huge fan of Steven Covey! The way Park Maitland has incorporated these habits into the curriculum is fantastic. We could not be more appreciative of how Park Maitland helps reinforce these crucial concepts for students at such a young age. This environment helps create confidence and build our children’s self-esteem while preparing them for their future roles as productive members of society. Look no further than my daughter Dagny’s class, where an entire class of 8-year-old girls not only gets along beautifully, but each of them truly care about each other. I wish I had this type of environment in my class when I was her age.
We look forward to watching our children flourish in the years to come as Park Maitland students!

SUPERSTAR TEACHER OF THE WEEK
|
|
This is my 15th year at Park Maitland School. I love how Park Maitland embraces all the arts so fully, making the curriculum so unique and special. My favorite part of teaching drama at Park Maitland is standing backstage with the kids right before the curtain opens. I love the excited, happy looks on their faces as they get ready to show off for their friends and family. Nothing compares to that energy! In our free time, all of The Eleazer’s love to participate in theatre around town, and love to get to the beach as much as possible. Also, after a lifetime of teasing, I finally, for the first time, learned how to ride a bike over the break.

A BIG thank you once again to everyone who made La Florida happen. To Ms. Szubinski for helping with costumes, Bobby Kohn for filming La Florida and to the incredible Ms. Eleazer. Also, our amazing Super Seniors Alex D., Rylan C., Silas D., and we are sorry that we forgot to mention Jack L. who also helped with production.

Bobby Kohn (from KoPixMo) will come into your classroom to take each students individual picture. Should take about 15 minutes.
Online Academy: KoPixMo will be able to photograph our online students on Wednesday after 4pm. Please contact me if interested. The location is still being finalized.
Please reach me at ascarlato@parkmaitland.org if you have any questions.

Classes will be called to send only the students that need retakes.
Three reasons for retakes below:
1) New & Absent Students (No Image)
2) Students that purchased a package & want to retake a picture (has package to return) even if no package brought back the photographer will have a record of previous packages.
3) Students that are purchasing a package on retake day (with money).
Online Academy: Lifetouch will be available at 4pm on Thursday at the Gym. Let me know if any students will be planning for retakes after 4pm. They will be able to park at Lazy Lane and call me on my cell so they can immediately meet with the photographer.
Please reach me at ascarlato@parkmaitland.org if you have any questions.
