Changes Coming to Lilac Weekly
|
|
Starting in March, Lilac Weekly will be changing to Lilac Monthly! We want to make sure you are all as informed as possible, but don't want to bombard your email with redundancy.
Of course, our website will have the most up to date information and you can always call or
email
our office team with any questions.
If you have any topics you would like to see in the Lilac Monthly, please email the office as we always love to promote anything near and dear to our Lilac Family! If you can provide the info by the first Wednesday of the month, we will do our best to get it in that month's issue.
We will have our final Lilac Weekly next Thursday when we announce our Royal Court and other fun info, and then Lilac Monthly will start mid-March!

2020 'Destination Spokane' Royalty
This is the week! This is the week our 17 Candidates have been training so hard for and we know they are ready! Last night they had their final training with their 'purple pods' and tonight they will meet with the Directors to execute the skills they have learned over the past 5 weeks. On Saturday, they will meet with judges, selected from the Community, for their final interview. Once all the scores from Directors and Judges are tallied, our Court of 7 will be formed. We hope to announce our Court members on our Social Media and Website by Monday morning.
Before all this happens, we want to tell you all about their busy weekend. On Saturday, our 17 Candidates were the guests of honor at the Woman's Club annual Vintage Fashion Show & Tea. The Candidates greeted guests and were the hosts of their respective tables to lead their table guests with the tea and snacks (showing off their new etiquette skills learned a few weeks ago). It was then time to enjoy the fun fashion show celebrating the amazing collection the Woman's Club curates as well as entertainment from the Silver Spurs Youth Folk Dancers. In between the dancing and beautiful fashion, our Candidates had the opportunity to try out their public speaking skills by introducing themselves to the attendees. All of the Candidates did a great job!
Overall, we are all so very honored to have gotten to know these amazing 17 young women. No matter if they are selected for the Court or not, we know they will all go on to accomplish great things as leaders of our Community and Region.
Keep reading on as we highlight the remaining three Candidates!

Kylee
Shadle Park High School
Kylee is the youngest of two girls, she has an older sister named Krysta. She loves to sing, draw, paint and play tennis. In her downtime, Kylee loves to read.
She is incredibly busy with school and volunteer activities. At Shadle Park, she is a member of the National Honor Society, tennis and the Highlander Helper club. This year she has taken a leadership role in NHS and loves the community the club creates as well as the volunteering they do. Kylee has volunteered for 2nd Harvest and for Journey Church. After she graduates, she will be attending Northwest University in Kirkland, WA.
Kylee's favorite thing about Spokane is that it offers so many activities every season. She loves that she can hike, swim, visit all the beautiful parks and so much more. There is something for everyone! She hopes to travel someday, with Scotland at the top of her list.
Her favorite food is homemade macaroni casserole and loves a great cup of coffee at either Dutch Bros. or Wake Up Call. She loves shopping at Bath and Body works and listening to pop and worship music. Kylee's favorite Disney princess is Aurora from Sleeping Beauty.
Kylee, we are so honored that you have chosen to be a part of the Lilac family. Your smile always brightens our day!

Georgia
University High School
Georgia, or 'G' to her friends and family is one of two sets of twins in her family. She has a twin brother named Ashton and two younger sisters that are twins, Kendall & Cameron. If that isn't a full enough household, they have three dogs, three cats and two rabbits! Wow! It's no surprise that in her downtime, Georgia loves spending time with her family and friends.
At University High School, she is a member of the Key Club, ASB, National Honor Society, Foreign Exchange and her favorite, Bank of America Student Leaders. Georgia plans to attend Whitworth University in the Fall to study Business Administration and Sociology and eventually go into non-profit management.
Georgia enjoys reading and watching movies. She loves that Spokane is a big city but so close to nature. On her bucket list, she would like to travel across seas. Her favorite food is macaroni and cheese and is a fan of just plain ol' water. Her favorite celebrity is Mr. Rogers and is a fan of the movie Mulan...coincidentally her favorite Disney princess. In her spare time, you will see Georgia shopping at Target.
Congrats Georgia in all you have accomplished so far, we can't wait to see what you will succeed in going forward!

Samya
West Valley High School
Samya, aka 'Sam,' is the youngest of three girls. She has older sisters named Shelby and Sierra. She has a Shizu Maltez mix named Ragnar that she loves to hang out with in her downtime.
She has been playing club volleyball for the past 9 years and for her school for the past 6 years. At West Valley, she has been ASB Treasurer and a member of the Leadership class since sophomore year. She loves volunteering with a program called PASS where she gets to spend time working with special needs kids. Samya plans to attend SCC in the fall to pursue her degree as a Radiology Technician. She will also continue to help with the volleyball community, reffing and hopefully coaching.
One of her favorite hobbies is photography, she likes to learn everything she can about being behind and in front of the camera. Samya loves that Spokane is big enough and diverse that if you go from one side of the city to the other, you feel like you are in a whole other place yet all the communities come together so seamlessly.
A unique fact about Samya is that she has been involved in Karate in the past and has earned her black belt! She hopes to someday return to Europe to learn more about her family's history as well as see more historic sites. She is a big fan of pop music and Arianna Grande is her favorite artist. She loves the movie 'Where the Red Fern Grows' and her favorite Disney princess is Moana.
Welcome Samya to Lilac! We have enjoyed getting to know you and know you are going to accomplish so much in the near future.
