From the Desk of the CEO...
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our 154th AGM yesterday, and thank you again to our 2019-2020 President Paul McCaig for his service over the past two years.

We continue to have an extremely active Advocacy calendar, with a busy week last week through the Ontario Chamber of Commerce’s Advocacy Week, and kicking off this week with a special post-budget Q&A with Parliamentary Assistant to the Finance Minister Stan Cho, and MPP Will Bouma, with President Ken McNaughton and Director Sandra Vos lending their voice and providing feedback to the province.

Operationally we have received the draft of this year’s Membership Directory, and I can say without a doubt this year’s edition will be the best ever produced by the Chamber.

As the uncertainty around pandemic and vaccine response and rollout continues, please let us know what your challenges are and how we can help.

Stay safe, test negative, stay positive.

COVID-19 Grants & Loans
Federal Government announces extension of Canada Emergency Business Account to help small businesses
The federal government announced that the deadline for new Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) applications is being extended from March 31 to June 30, 2021.

This deadline extension applies to any new applications for CEBA loans of $60,000 or to new applications from businesses that have already received the $40,000 loan and intend to apply for the additional $20,000.

The extension will allow more businesses to access the support they need as Canada’s economy continues to deal with localized public health restrictions and, for a number of businesses, reduced opening hours or reduced demand for services. Extending the application deadline to June 2021 also aligns CEBA with the timelines of other federal government support programs for business.
New ‘Community Building’ Grant Program for Non-Profits
The Ontario government is investing $105 million through the new Community Building Fund to support non-profit tourism, culture, sport and recreation organizations. The funding will be used to help these non-profits recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and meet the needs of their communities. Applications open on March 31, 2021. Read more....
