MEMBERSHIP CONTEST Help to Build Our Chapter!
|
From now until our June meeting, we are running a contest to increase the membership in our chapter. We believe that TTN has lots to offer women in terms of personal growth and social interaction and would love to have more women in the Bay Area join us.
While we offer our monthly meetings free to members and non-members alike, there are additional benefits, such as participation in and creation of special interest groups (SIGS) that come with membership. Our SIGs offer the opportunity to share our interests and develop relationships at a deeper level.
If you are a current member and recruit a new member who joins by the beginning of June, you will be entered into the contest and could win prizes at our June 8
th
Social Event. Just send a message to the Steering Committee at [email protected] with your name and the name of the new member.
More details on the prizes in upcoming newsletters!

THE READERS' CORNER
And Other Media
|
Many of you have shared interesting articles and videos that have been appreciated by our readership. To encourage this sharing, we have created a monthly column called Readers' Corner. Submit your articles to Nancy Ware at
[email protected]
"It was the best of times; it was the worst of times."
As we are all hunkering down, here are some ways to keep your sanity and have things to look forward to. We invite all our members to share in how you are coping. Stay healthy.

Travel on Adventures Through Books
TTNer,
Barbara Aspelin want
ed us to know that
Green Apple Books provides recommendations
for books
to read during this trying period
of time. Although the libraries are
physically closed, online resources
from the library are available or
books can be ordered through
Amazon or Green Apple and online. Go to greenapplebooks.com, hit the Shop for Books or Book Recs tabs, and shop to your heart's content.
Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson both have tested positive for the Corona Virus and to pass the time, Rita has compiled a list of "Quarantunes" that she is sharing with the world. There is humor, spirit, nostalgia and great fun to be had when listening to this list. Check it out
HERE.

Keep the Music Coming
Life sure does look different when we're self-quarantined, but you don't have to be without live music just because our bars and music venues are closed.
Musicians are staying home just like us, so many of them are turning on their webcams and hosting live streams creating virtual interactive concerts. NPR is keeping an updated list that you can check out HERE, but note the times are mostly for Eastern Standard Times.

SHELTER IN PLACE
|
To all our TTN members and friends:
We hope everyone is healthy and sheltering-in-place safely and that you've been able to keep in contact with friends and family.
Although we may not be able to meet in person right now, connection is so important.
Last week members of the TED Talk group in San Francisco met virtually using Zoom software. This type of virtual meeting is rather new for many of us, but the group was able to watch an inspiring TED talk on the "Three A's of Awesome" and share our experiences in managing our lives during this time. We all found it comforting to see our friends' faces and hear their voices.
To help keep our community together during this time, we will be offering more Zoom meetings starting in April with a talk by Arete Nicholas on "Ten Ways to Practice Self-Care During the Coronavirus". Please read through the newsletter for lots of information about using Zoom. We hope to see your face on screen at the next Zoom session!
Healthy Wishes from your Steering Committee
