Celebrating Impact in Our Resident Lives
Dear friends and colleagues,

For 50 years HDC MidAtlantic has been working with our neighbors to create real change and meaningful connections by creating, preserving, and strengthening affordable housing communities. We strive to provide our residents with the support, assistance, and amenities that they need to flourish. In this month’s newsletter, we would like to take the opportunity to report on the impact we made in our residents’ lives during 2020, continue celebrating HDC’s 50th anniversary, and highlight our new homeownership program for residents of Larkspur Crossing Townhomes. As we conclude Women’s History Month, I am inspired by the thread running through these stories of strong women dedicated to improving the lives of those around them.

I hope you enjoy reading about new homeowner Dania Figueroa Pacheco who, with HDC’s assistance, bought her townhome this year and captured her piece of the American dream. We view home ownership as a concrete step in transforming generational wealth inequities and a vital action to advancing racial equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Leaving 2020 behind, we are excited to have something to celebrate in 2021—50 years of HDC! While there is still so much to accomplish, we will be celebrating this milestone all year. And, please, make no mistake about it, we could not have gotten this far without our partners. HDC’s 50th year anniversary belongs to us all.

With gratitude,
Dana Hanchin
President and CEO
A Journey to Homeownership

HDC has developed a unique homeownership program at Larkspur Crossing Townhomes in Manheim Township, PA, creating the opportunity for current residents to purchase their home—a cornerstone of building family wealth and financial stability. Dania Figueroa Pacheco’s family recently closed on the purchase of their home.
2020 Impact Report
One consequence of the COVID pandemic was the stark reminder of how stable housing was at risk for so many people, and that safe and affordable housing is vital to one’s physical and mental health. As communities, we faced new challenges and together we responded to our residents’ needs to make sure they did not have to worry about losing the roof over their heads. Please take a moment to read our 2020 Impact Report, and learn about how we continue to ensure that our communities are safe, affordable, and welcoming.
Anniversary Spotlight
One month after graduating Columbia High School in the summer of 1975, Diane Seasock was hired by Jim Brown, then the Executive Director of Housing Development Corporation of Lancaster County (as HDC was known then) to be his administrative assistant. Today, 46 years later, Diane is our longest-serving employee and the Community Manager at one of our first communities, Trinity House in Columbia, PA where HDC got its start. Diane says she “sort of grew up at HDC” and as a lifelong Columbia resident and champion of her community, she shares she is thrilled to be here. “From HDC’s humble beginnings until today, I have always been proud to be a part of it”. As we recognize Women’s History Month this March and celebrate our 50th anniversary throughout 2021, we are honored that Diane has been part of our team for nearly five decades and thank her for her incredible years of service with HDC.
