HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
Students loved ending the week by celebrating Valentine's Day! They were incredibly creative with their Valentine's boxes as you can see in the pictures above. Students enjoyed their special treats, cards and activities. They also enjoyed celebrating one another and doing acts of kindness. We thank our parents for their donations and help with classroom parties.
LEANING FROM FAMOUS AMERICANS
Second graders are currently working on an integrated unit that studies famous Americans. Their unit incorporates social studies, reading, writing and technology. After researching a famous American that was of interest to them, students wrote all about that individual and his/her impact on the world. Students then presented their learning in a new way by creating Adobe Spark Videos. I encourage you to check out these projects that are currently on display in our second grade hallway.
CELEBRATING 100 DAYS OF SCHOOL
It is hard to believe that we are over half way through the school year! Time does fly when you are having fun and learning. Our primary students celebrated our 100th day of school with a variety of activities. Kindergarten students got creative and made pictures that included 100 objects. This was an opportunity for our youngest students to count to one hundred. Other activities included making patterned bracelets that showed different multiples of 100 and reading 100 books. Students enjoyed representing, composing and decomposing the number 100 in several hands-on ways.
LEGEND FEEDER WISH WEEK
Gold Rush will partner with Legend High School to support the Make a Wish Foundation. Last year Gold Rush students raised over $5,867! We are excited to partner with the high school again February 18 through February 22. This year the Legend Feeder is supporting a sixteen year old girl named Allie who has a serious heart condition. We are supporting her wish to travel to Egypt. Learn more about this student above.

We will follow the High School's spirit week. Students can bring change to participate. See the specific events below and thank you for helping us make a difference in Allie's life!
