IMPORTANT MEMBER INFORMATION
MEMBER MEETINGS
Mark your calendars for the VIBES member meetings the first Friday of each month, at 6:00 pm at the Buckley's unless you are notified otherwise. These meetings are jammed packed with information shared by members on apps that have been discovered, how to use various apps, and events coming up in the community that might be of interest. The February meeting included updates on several members latest activities and information on a number of Apps such as Blindsquare, KNFB Reader and Seeing AI. Meetings begin at 6:00 pm but come at 5:00 for the March 6 and April 3 meetings and take a neighborhood walk with Delta Gamma. You will be especially appreciated if you bring a snack to share. You must sign up with Sue before bringing a snack.
IMPORTANT!

SUMMER IS COMING
Now is the time to start planning for summer. There are two action filled summer camps in North Carolina for blind and visually impaired students. There is also the Guide Dogs for the Blind camp for students considering future use of a guide dog. Students must have independent living skills for all of these camps. All are at no cost to the student.
SEE Camp H20, is an overnight water sports camp for kids who are blind or visually impaired, and who are ready to dip their toes (and more) in the water. We'll swim, row, kayak, fish, and splash around from our home base on the shores of Lake Norman, and throw in a trip to the National Whitewater Center in Charlotte for good measure. Novices are welcome, and lifejackets plentiful: all that's required is a willingness to try new things and get wet. We'll have evening activities too.
Cost: Free Co-Ed * Rising 8th-12th graders * Residential * July 5 - 11 For more information, click here for the Camp H2O website.

SEE Adventure Camp
is for teens who are blind or have a significant visual impairment, and who are ready to stretch their legs and hit the trail. We plan to hike, raft, climb, swim, and zip in and around the Nantahala Gorge in Western North Carolina. We'll stay in the group lodge at Wildwater Nantahala, and spend time at the Nantahala Outdoor Center as well.
Cost: Free.
Co-Ed * Rising 8th-12th graders * Residential * July 19 - 23

CAMP GDB
At Camp GDB (Guide Dogs for the Blind), participants will explore the companionship, independence, and responsibility of having a guide dog. Campers receive hands-on guide dog instruction with an emphasis on understanding the specific orientation and mobility skills required to be a successful guide dog handler, as well as the fitness and endurance necessary for guide dog travel. Applicants must be 14-17 years old and have strong independent living skills as well as strong Orientation and Mobility Skills. This year's camp is held July 6-11 in Sandy, Oregon.
