Daily TAPA COVID-19 Email - Tuesday, March 17

TAPA Ensemble,

How’s everyone doing with their strange COVID-vacation? While we’ve been told to “treat this just like April Break”, it feels much more like an unsettling limbo to me. The TAPA Admin Team has been discussing this feeling, and -- as Ms. Sweeney-Ashby recently said -- one of the reasons this experience feels so strange is the sense of “being abruptly ripped away from” our students, our community and our normal routines. Additionally, as Ms. Bryant pointed out, school personnel are existing with the general expectation of “we’ll all be on call, forever, with no real work, yet no real break”. It’s disorienting at best and anxiety-provoking at worst.

So, we are banding together to lighten the collective load as well as we can. For me, that means that Mr. MacMannis and I are sharing the duty of being the TAPA Person On Call, letting us divide up the constant (not entirely rational) anxiety of “but what if they demand a conference call and cancel everything right at the end of a school Friday again?!” Additionally in putting out this daily email, we are striving to give all of you one consistent place to turn for answers. To give you the option to tone down the deluge of information coming from social media, news sites, family gossip and the like, we’re vetting and gathering the most accurate and timely information for you and sharing it here on a daily basis.

How else are you getting through these strange times? Email me and let me know, and I’ll tell everyone about it tomorrow. As always, if we’ve got to be juggling work in this surreal time, I sure am glad to be juggling it with all y’all.

- Ms. R-H

- Ms. R-H
