Open to All: Food Distribution Every Wednesday at The Glades Initiative
The Glades Initiative offers weekly food distribution to anyone in need. Those coming in cars are asked to line up beside the office for drive-through pick-up on Wednesdays from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. Both drivers and walkers will receive food bags on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Our staff and volunteers will wear personal protective gear as we handle and distribute the food bags. We ask that drivers and their passengers remain in their vehicles and practice social distancing measures to keep everyone safe.

New Rental Assistance Program for Undocumented Households
Legal Aid of Palm Beach County just opened its Rapid Response Eviction Assistance III Program (RREAP III). This program will provide legal representation and rental assistance to undocumented tenant households that have experienced loss of income, reduction in hours, or unemployment as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Please consider calling the site prior to visiting to verify the information listed. Please note that sites may have specific requirements such as ID.

The School Food Service grab-and-go food distribution has changed. Rather than a twice-a-week pick-up, distributions will now be held weekly on Thursdays at 89 school locations across the District.

The School District of Palm Beach County is collaborating with Broward County, Miami-Dade Public Schools, The School District of Osceola County, St. Lucie Public Schools, and Polk County Schools on the implementation of a college access event highlighting Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI). A Hispanic-serving institution (HSI) is defined in federal law as an accredited, degree-granting, public or private nonprofit institution of higher education with 25% or more total undergraduate Hispanic full-time student enrollment.

If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. These are the white two-ply reusable washable masks given by the health department. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last.

Summer Camp Scholarships from PBC Youth Services Department
The Palm Beach County Youth Services Department is accepting parent applications for summer camp scholarships beginning January 22 through April 2. The Summer Camp Scholarship Program offers eligible children, ages 5-14 and a special population up to age 17, a full scholarship to day camp for the entire summer.

Florida Supervisors of Elections Scholarship Contest
The Florida Supervisors of Elections (FSE) Scholarship Committee will award three (3) $1,200 scholarships in 2021 to full-time college students around the state. Applicants must be either a Political Science/Public or Business Administration, or Journalism/Mass Communications major and have completed enough credits for enrollment as a junior. Eligible students who are registered to vote in Palm Beach County should submit their application to the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Office by March 26, 2021.

CARES Act Food Cards Must be Activated by March 31
Palm Beach County residents who qualified for pre-paid debit cards through the CARES ACT funding for food purchases must activate their cards by March 31, 2021. As of March 11, 2021, 12,883 food cards have been activated, and 303 cards totaling $185,500 have not been activated.
