iative, Dr. Marshall will be leading a session for educators, school/District staff and community members on Feb. 20 at the TLA. Dr. Marshall of Jefferson County Public Schools is one of few chief equity officers in the nation - a job designed to ask uncomfortable questions about why some groups of students struggle when others thrive. Marshall does this with conviction—though not always with the utmost diplomacy—in Louisville, a city with a history of confronting racial inequities in its schools. Invite your high school students to the "Become a Tiger, Become a Teacher" informational event!
Do you know of any high school students with an interest in teaching? Invite them to Become a Tiger, Become a Teacher: a special event designed to share information with high school students about a career path toward K-12 education. On Mar. 6, participating students will have the opportunity to learn about one the U of M’s teacher prep programs, explore scholarship and teaching opportunities in Memphis and network with U of M faculty, staff and other future education majors. Interested students should RSVP by Feb. 24.
