Hello JES Families!
The Morse family went out on a walk last night and my kids were telling me how “not cool” I am. I can laugh it off, but what has become clear now is that two of my kids (just the 5th and 7th graders) have entered that phase of adolescence that can make them appear a little crusty and unpleasant. That was our night last night. Does it make me long for the days they were younger, had cute little lisps with certain words, and loved to sit and snuggle - yes I do miss those days. But I am also embracing the many joys of this season as well.
The reason I bring this up is that I learned early on in my career that even when you don’t feel like your kids/students are listening, they are. If you are going out of your way to do something loving for your student and all you get is a shrug, trust that they are still hearing the message of being loved by you. If you are sharing encouraging words and they just grumble, rest assured that those words are actually going deep. The heart of these students is like deep waters, what we pour into them really matters, even when they respond and tell use we aren’t cool. So, continue to remind yourself to love relentlessly and never stop encouraging the children around you.
Also - you are cool, even if your kids don’t think so.
Keep doing the small things!
Pete Morse

Parent Survey
As we near the end of the school year, we are interested in feedback from our families on their experience during this current school year. Your feedback in this annual end of year survey helps us in our continuous improvement process and planning for next year.
We ask that parents of elementary-age students assist their child(ren) in providing feedback using the link to the student survey, if parents deem the survey questions appropriate. If you have multiple students, feel free to complete a survey for each child. For those with middle or high school students, the link to the secondary level survey will be sent by the school principal.
Please complete the surveys using the links below by Friday, May 13.
We continue to be grateful for your partnership and support as we work together to support students.
Thank you!

We are looking for two volunteers per day of the week, who can commit to doing it on that same day through the end of the year. Lunches are from 10:50-1:30. Fill out this Google Form if you are interested. Or reach out to Mr. Morse if you have any questions.

From the Health Office
A friendly Health Office reminder:
-
Attention parents of incoming Kindergarteners: Under Minnesota Immunization Law 121A.15 all students enrolled in school must meet immunization requirements or documented exemption. All Kindergarteners in the fall of 2022 need to have had their kindergarten boosters (DTap, Polio, MMR, Varicella, and Hep B) to begin school in the fall. Please plan ahead to ensure your child is up to date.
- We are still seeing active Covid cases, so please help us by keeping your child home when they’re sick, and test to rule out Covid.
- Our school has a number of at-home COVID tests for student use. If you would like a test to be sent home with your child to keep on hand, please contact the main office at 952-556-65
