Dear Members:

I wanted to reach out to everyone and let you know that NSNA is thinking about you during this time and appreciates the strong camaraderie of our constituents. Everyone around the globe has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, testing one of our deepest tenets as humans to come together and care for each other. During difficult times, I often fall back on a reassuring quote from a humble individual, Mr. Fred Rogers, “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’” Today, more than ever, people are doing more than looking for the helpers, they are becoming the helpers.

Healthcare workers, emergency services and first responders, food and supply chain personnel, utility workers, and many more individuals are stepping up to continue to provide essential needs during this public health crisis. Nurses have truly stepped up to our calling and have shown the passion and care needed to help fight this crisis on the frontlines. As nursing students, we have the opportunity to help define our profession and continue our legacy as nursing leaders.

NSNA, being more than 60,000 members strong, is irreplaceable in our ability to provide a platform for students and contribute to the communities around us. I encourage everyone to reach out and provide help to other individuals, while also keeping your health and safety in mind. The strength that is seen by our school chapters is echoed through the collective voice of our state constituents. NSNA has seen great updates coming from school chapters and state constituents advocating for quality nursing education in addition to representing our core value "Care" during this pandemic.

Please feel free to reach out to NSNA at any time, as we are always here to help assist and bring our members together. We all need each other to rely on now more than ever.

Sincerely,
AJ Cook
NSNA President
