IAIA 2019 Holiday Market
On December 14th, IAIA held our 2019 Holiday Market. Over 80 vendors - students, staff, faculty, alumni, and Native American - artists filled the Gym in the IAIA Performing Arts and Fitness Center - the first time that this event was held there. People from all over the Santa Fe area came out to meet the artists and finish their holiday shopping. It was a great day for all.
Holiday Community Gathering At IAIA
Interim Dean of Students Paul Moore (Chickasaw) hosted the Holiday Community Gathering on December 11th. He gave a brief overview of some of the accomplishments that were made through the semester, then invited students to perform for the assembled. The audience was treated to readings, drumming, and singing by many of our talented IAIA folks.

Earl Biss (Crow) '66 Biography
Wins Awards
Author Lisa Gerstner recently won two awards for the biography
“Experiences with Earl Biss – The Spirit Who Walks Among His People” . She is an award-winning
finalist in both the Art category and Biography category of the 2019 Best Book Awards sponsored by
American Book Fest.
Lisa worked directly with renowned Crow artist, Earl Biss, on his biography in 1994-1995. He
passed away while painting for a show in in Santa Fe in 1998. The book was published by
American Design Ltd. in August 2018.
Earl Biss was a lead painter during the Contemporary Native Art Movement birthed in the 1960s
during the formational years of the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe. He is
considered by some art experts as one of the greatest oil painters of all time.

Scholarships.  Needed by more than 80% of our students to help pursue their studies at IAIA. 

Academic Programs.  IAIA needs support for visiting artists, student interns, artists in residence and innovative equipment to keep IAIA at the forefront of educational offerings. 

Student Emergency Fund.  The fund provides crucial assistance when a student has a sudden emergency with no available resources or funds. 

General Operating Support.  This helps IAIA take advantage of sudden opportunities to enhance the student experience.

IAIA Alumnus Bruce King, painter, writer, musician, actor, chef extraordinaire, mostly an extraordinary friend, father, and husband. Proud member of the Oneida Nation, born in Chicago IL, on November 2, 1950 and passed away surrounded by loved ones on November 27, 2019.

IAIA Radio Show

The IAIA Radio Show Through Our Eyes airs on Tuesdays from 4:07-4:30 pm, on KSFR, 101.1 FM, Santa Fe Public Radio.
